Chapter 1

The sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon, casting a warm, golden glow across the countryside. On a small, quaint farm nestled a midst rolling hills and lush green fields, life was beginning to stir.

A beautiful hen name Joy emerged from her cozy room in the barn. She let out a contented cluck as she surveyed her surroundings, taking in the familiar sights and sounds of her home.

The farmhouse, with its whitewashed walls and thatched roof, sat at the center of the property. A well-tended garden grew nearby, bursting with colorful flowers and an array of vegetables.

A large red barn stood tall, housing the Wade Family’s livestock. It was constructed to function like college dorms with bedrooms for each of the animals.

The animals rushed about in their rooms as they prepared for another busy day. There was plenty to do but it would be worth it later when the work was done. Everyone planned to meet in the parlor for juice and a spirited game of Snooker.

Joy, however, was not like the other animals. She was always the first one awake and the last one to sleep. She cooked delicious meals, sure to stick to everyone’s diet but allowing for treats. If she wasn’t cooking, she was seen caring for one of the other animals or reading to the children. She loved music and often burst into song and dance. She also had an insatiable curiosity that led her on adventures around the farm.

Today, her curiosity led her to wander the vast acreage. She’d asked her sister, Alyx to join her but she never got excited about exploring areas that were usually off-limits.
