Introduction
Could the clock go any slower? I can’t wait to go. It’s already ten thirty am, but it’s still too early. I want to get out of here; I've been awake since six am, trying to occupy my mind to make the time go faster.
Some bags are already packed, waiting at the front door, while Mary has her large suitcase sprawled across the bed, packing more. The car is ready to go; I already did the checks. The tires are good, the fuel tank is full, and the oil level is sufficient. I want to go now however check-in is in the afternoon, so we have to leave after lunch.
This time, we will stop and grab lunch at a truck stop or whatever we can find, as the options are limited. I don’t care today about my diet, it will be a junk food day and that is just fine with me, the boys don’t care either; I just want to get out of here. Here I am trying to be patient, sitting on the couch and I begin to watch the kids run around the house, frantic, finding last-minute gadgets to stuff in their bags. Although grown up now, nothing has changed; they are still as excited as I am.
Anticipation of our adventure is thick in the air and I can’t wait to get out of there. Last-minute checks around the house are done, like watering all the gardens; oh man that takes some time let me tell you. I have beautiful gardens; I was only telling Jake yesterday (Jake my oldest son) I said, See all these plants and all the grass?
Jake looked around, Yeah Pa there’s lots,
I said, I put every one of them there.
It’s only taken me 17 years or so to
