    About the author:

Authors Joyce Morris Doty and her twin sister Jean Morris Klusmeier decided at the age of 84 years old collaborate their ideas in writing books directed to children of all ages.

The twins’ formative years were spent in Rockport, located in southern Indiana. Throughout the years they reached out to teach others verbally but are now putting those words in print of what they have seen and learned in their lives by reaching out and informing children of different subjects they may face in life.

They are extremely excited to share their knowledge with children of all ages.  And it is through the love of the Lord, Jesus Christ, that they have set forth and shared His love with all children and adults of the world.

    Chapter 1

The noise in the 5thgrade classroom in the Rockport-Ohio Elementary school was deafening with the chatter of boys and girls talking loudly, joking, and shouting to each other while waiting for the class bell to ring for summer vacation.

Eric, yelled to his best friend. Hey, Lucas, what are you doing this summer?

Lucas yelled back, I don’t know, I guess I will just fool around.

When the bell sounded, the class erupted into louder hooting and hollering and started rushing out the door towards the warm spring air. Following the other students out, Eric and Lucas grabbed their backpacks filled with no longer-needed schoolbooks and rushed out the door together. As they were running down the outside steps of the school, Lucas turns to Eric and asks, Eric, do think your mom will let you stay overnight at my house tonight? Give her a call and ask her.

Eric pulled his phone out of his pants pocket and called his mom. After getting an okay from his mom, they head over to Lucas ’house, which is only two blocks away from the school.

Eric and Lucas are fortunate to live in Rockport, Indiana, which is situated high on a cliff overlooking the banks of the Ohio River that inhabits a little over 1900 people. Rockport may be small in population, but it excels in history.

History of whenAbraham Lincoln lived in Rockport from 1816 to 1830, the riverboats moored at the landing for passengers to travel down the Ohio River; Native Americans roamed the area. Today, the memories of the past are the Lincoln Pioneer Village, a memorial to the town’s ancestors and a place to visit. There is much to do and see.

The school slowly faded further into the background with each step they took. Their heavy backpacks filled with books, laptop computers, and papers slung over their shoulders seemed to feel lighter as Lucas and Eric walked down the sidewalk towards home. Eric turned to Lucas and asked, What can we do this summer? I can’t think of anything interesting, can you?

I can’t think of anything either, but something will come up, Lucas answered.

Both boys are extremely elated that school is out for the summer, their happiness and excitement spilling over into the joy and love of nature.
