    Introduction

    It was the spring of '97, a cold and snowy March 4th. She was dying, and she was 80 years old. At 6 am, she passed. Her daughter, the youngest of 5 children, was by her side.  There were funeral arrangements to be made and people to contact; no time for grieving now, tears, yes, but grieving, no; maybe later.

    Yes, later.  About three weeks later, her daughter, Elizabeth, became severely ill and was admitted to the same hospital her mother had passed away in three weeks earlier and just three rooms away.
