NICHOLAS BAMI MICHAEL GODWIN was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone and started writing poetry at an early age. His first published poem was in the School Magazine of his high school in Freetown, The Albert Academy. He was also once a regular contributor to the Poets' Corner of the For DI People newspaper, also in Freetown.

The war in Sierra Leone forced him and his family to seek refuge in neighboring Conakry, Guinea in 1999

He migrated to the United States of America in 2004, and within eighteen months had his poems published in no fewer than 3 anthologies. He was featured in the International Who's Who in Poetry-2005, and is the recipient of the Editor's Choice Award from poetry.com and the International Library of Poetry for outstanding achievement in poetry.

Now a naturalized American citizen, he holds a BBA and MBA degrees from an American University.

He is married to Kezia Elvira and they have two children, Melvin Beola and Ida Michaela.

He currently lives in North Carolina, USA.
