Chapter One: A Life from Beginning to End
Birth & Early Childhood
Annelies Marie Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany on June 12, 1929. Her parents were Edith and Otto Frank. They had one older daughter, Margot, who was three years older than Anne Frank. The Frank family was not consistent in following all the Jewish ethnicity's traditions and customs, calling them the liberal Jews. The Frank siblings were encouraged by their father to read because he was always acquiring scholarly materials. However, when Hitler became the leader of Germany, Anne's simple life ended because the family decided to move to Amsterdam due to fear of Nazi control and financial strains.
