The Billion Dollar Habit - BRIAN MYLES

    INTRODUCTION

    You Are What You Do

Habit, my friend, is a long-term practice that ultimately shapes the man into himself (Evenus)

I'm grateful that you read this book. You are about to discover a tried-and-true set of methods and approaches that you may apply to your life to attain more happiness and success in every aspect. I'm going to divulge to you the purported Secrets of Success that are employed by everyone who has ever accomplished anything significant in life. You won't be the same when you understand and put them into practice for yourself.

    The Most Important Question

I started pondering Why are some people more successful than others? many years ago. This query became the center of a lifelong investigation that took me to over 80 countries and through tens of thousands of pages of literature on metaphysics, philosophy, psychology, religion, history, economics, and business.

One by one, the answers came to me over time and eventually solidified into a concise explanation and a distinct image.

It goes like this: "You are responsible for who and where you are in life.

It is all up to you what you are today and what you choose to become in the future. Your current life is the culmination of all of your prior decisions, acts, and choices. By altering your actions, you can shape your own destiny. You can make new decisions that are more in line with the kind of person you want to be and the goals you have for your life.

Just consider! It is up to you to be whatever you are or ever will be. Furthermore, the only true restriction on your potential is the one you impose on your own creativity. By taking total control of your thoughts, words, and deeds starting now, you may seize total control over your destiny.

    Habit's Power

In the domains of achievement and psychology, the most significant finding may be that 95% of your thoughts, feelings, actions, and accomplishments are the product of habit. You have a long history of conditioned reactions that started when you were a little child and cause you to react without hesitation or thought in nearly every circumstance.

In other words, those who are successful have success habits, while those who are unsuccessful do not. Men and women who are successful, happy, healthy, and prosperous readily, instinctively, and reliably say and do the appropriate things at the appropriate times. They accomplish ten or twenty times as much as the normal person who has not yet picked up these habits and behaviors as a result.

    The Meaning of Achievement

My favorite definition of success, which I share with people frequently, is the ability to live your life the way you want to live it, doing what you most enjoy, surrounded by people who you admire and respect.

Success, in a broader sense, is the capacity to realize your aspirations, objectives, wants, and dreams in all the significant spheres of your life.

Despite the fact that every single one of us is distinct from every other human being that has ever lived, we all share four objectives or desires. You may quickly assess your life by assigning yourself a grade in each of these four categories, with one representing the lowest and ten representing the highest.

    Fit and Well

Our first objective is to maintain our health and vitality. Everyone wants to live a pain- and illness-free life, be in good physical shape, and have plenty of energy. Today, thanks to the amazing advancements in medical research, a substantial portion of our longevity and the quality of our health and fitness are controlled by design rather than accident. Individuals who practice good health habits live longer, better lives, and are generally healthier than those who practice bad health habits. They also have more energy. Later in this book, we'll examine these behaviors and how to cultivate them.

    Outstanding Connections

Enjoying wonderful relationships—whether private, personal, or social—with people we like and respect and who, in return, like, love, and respect us is our second shared objective. The quality of your connections at every level and in every aspect of your life will decide a full 85% of your happiness. More than anything else, how well you get along with people and how much they like, love, and respect you will determine how happy your life turns out. You will discover the essential behavioral and communication practices that establish and preserve positive interpersonal relationships throughout this book.

    Follow Your Passions

The third thing we all want is to work at a job we love, do it well, and get paid well for it. You want to be paid more and promoted more quickly, and you want to be able to obtain and hold the job you want. Whatever you do, you want to make as much money as you can at every point in your career. You will discover how to adopt the habits of the wealthiest and most accomplished individuals in every industry by reading this book.

    REACH FINANCIAL SELF-Sufficiency

The achievement of financial independence is the fourth objective that unites us all. In order to never have to worry about money again, you want to get to the point in your life where you have enough. You want to be financially worry-free in every way. When placing an order at a restaurant, you should be able to determine how hungry you are without having to consult the right-hand column.

The Formation of Billion Dollar Habits

You will discover how to adopt the Billion Dollar Habits of those who rise from poverty to wealth in a single generation in the pages that follow. You will acquire superior cognitive abilities, decision-making skills, and action-taking abilities. You'll discover how to set up your financial affairs so that you accomplish all of your objectives much more quickly than you can currently envision.

Building your own character is one of the most crucial things you can do to ensure your happiness and success in life. Your goal is to excel as a person in every way. Your goal is to become the kind of person that inspires and uplifts others. Your goal is to rise to the position of leadership in your community and serve as an inspiration to those around you for personal achievement.

The formation of particular habits that invariably and automatically produce the desired outcomes is what ultimately determines the success of each of these common aims that we all strive towards.

    Every Habit Is Acquired

The beautiful thing about habits is that they can all be learnt via repetition and practice. Any habit that you deem desirable or necessary can be learned. You can almost completely mold your personality and character by using your willpower and discipline. Your life is a script that you can write, and if you change your mind about what's written, you can start over from scratch.

Your negative habits are mostly to blame for your issues and annoyances, just as your positive habits account for the majority of your current success and contentment. However, as negative habits may also be learned, they can be unlearned and replaced with positive ones through the same process of repetition and practice.

True to his title as The Father of His Country, George Washington served as both the nation's first president and the general in charge of the Revolutionary Army. His impeccable moral standards, polite demeanor, and appropriate behavior won him admiration and even devotion.

However, George Washington did not begin his life in such manner. His family was middle class and didn't have many advantages. He read The Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation as a young man who aspired to be prosperous and successful. He copied the 110 rules into a personal notebook when he was a teenager. All throughout his life, he kept them close at hand and reviewed them frequently.

George Washington became a self-made man in every sense by deliberately practicing and repeating the habits he most desired to become ingrained in his character. He learned the habits he needed to learn to become the kind of man he wanted to become. By following the Rules of Civility, he developed the habits of behavior and manners that led to him being considered First in the hearts of his countrymen.

    The Initial Millionaire

Benjamin Franklin, who started out as an apprentice printer and went on to become the first self-made millionaire in the American colonies, used a similar approach to personal development during this same time period.

Benjamin Franklin thought he was a bit coarse, impolite, and combative when he was younger. He saw that his actions and attitudes were making his associates and coworkers hostile toward him. He made the decision to write his own unique narrative in order to transform.

He started by compiling a list of the twelve virtues he believed the perfect person should have. Then, he focused on cultivating a single virtue every week. Throughout the entire week, he would constantly remind himself to exercise that virtue—be it calm, temperance, or tolerance—whenever the situation asked for it. He would practice one virtue for two weeks, then three weeks, and finally one virtue per month as he cultivated these virtues and ingrained them into his character.

He rose to prominence as one of the era's most well-liked leaders and personalities over time. In his capacity as an American ambassador to Paris during the Revolutionary War and the Constitutional Convention, where the US Constitution and Bill of Rights were discussed, drafted, and adopted, he rose to great prominence. He transformed himself into a person with the power to influence history by working on himself to acquire the virtues of a great person.

    You Have Total Authority

It is a reality that healthy habits are simple to maintain but difficult to create. Conversely, bad habits are difficult to break yet simple to develop. In either scenario, your actions, choices, and behaviors lead to the development of either positive or negative habits.

Habits are like a cable, remarked Horace Mann. Every day, we weave a thread of it that eventually becomes unbreakable.

CREATING THE LIFESTYLE choices that bring about true prosperity, happiness, and health should be one of
