    CHAPTER 1

The large puma struck swiftly and without a single shred of mercy. The man contained within the beast had none either. After the last man felt choking on his own blood. Only then did he calm himself.

Stars dotted the moonless sky and Jeremy Dalou gazed around as he transitioned from feline to human. The process was achieved, smoothly and with no more than a mere thought. Slowly he pushed to his feet and fixed his clothing. Once had finished fixing this massive array of weapons. he walked away from the carnage.

It didn’t bother him. Not at all He’d long since passed having emotion for that.

    He killed.

    People died.

    Life went on.

He reached the trussed up man he had come across earlier before his gun-toting friends arrived. Aware the man could see him in the starlight from the night sky, Jeremy lifted a hand between them and slowly allowed one razor sharp claw to push free.

Then he sliced through the gag with it. Where is she?

The strong scent of ammonia filled his nostrils and he knew the man pissed himself.

His throat worked hard and fast. Jeremy waited.

    I don’t know.

    He cleaned closer, fangs descending.

I smell your lies. Tell me where she is.

And you will let me go if I do?

No. You die tonight. If you tell me I will make it quick and merciful. If not... He shrugged. You get the picture. What I will do to you will be slow and excruciating.

    Then why—

Stop. I tell you this to see if you want to die quick or slow. There is no negotiation. I am providing you with a choice for your last moments on the earth.

    You are heartless.

Your thoughts in regards to myself don’t mean shit to me. I will not ask again. Do you have anything to tell me?

    No,
