About this ebook
In this classic fantasy adventure, a rescue mission leads Tarzan to a dangerous lost civilization of medieval knights.
Deep in the jungles of Africa, a party of evil slave traders search for the Leopard City of Nimmr in the Valley of the Sepulcher, where they hope to find treasure. Stumbling in that direction is a lost American photographer, James Blake, whom Tarzan has vowed to rescue.
But the valley holds more than treasure. Centuries ago, a group of Knights Templar got lost on their way to the Holy Land and became shipwrecked. Now they are ready to continue their Crusade, armed with lances, swords, shields, and pikes. Soon Blake finds himself in armor, fighting for the honor of a princess, and Tarzan prepares for battle. That is when the slave traders strike!Edgar Rice Burroughs
Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) had various jobs before getting his first fiction published at the age of 37. He established himself with wildly imaginative, swashbuckling romances about Tarzan of the Apes, John Carter of Mars and other heroes, all at large in exotic environments of perpetual adventure. Tarzan was particularly successful, appearing in silent film as early as 1918 and making the author famous. Burroughs wrote science fiction, westerns and historical adventure, all charged with his propulsive prose and often startling inventiveness. Although he claimed he sought only to provide entertainment, his work has been credited as inspirational by many authors and scientists.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Pretty good Tarzan novel with a lost race of Knights, like from the Middle Ages.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is one of the best of all the Tarzan books. ERB has a wonderful way of bringing in sub sculptures into his stories that would seem impossible to bring in. The medieval presence in this book was truly amazing? Loved it!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5In this Tarzan novel by Burroughs the protagonist of the story is an American named James Blake. Blake while on expedition in the Congo becomes lost all the while Arab slave traders are also invading what Tarzan perceives as his jungle. Tarzan orders both the American hunter, Blake, and the Arab slave trader to leave his jungle. But as the story progresses they are all trapped in an environment of ancient medieval cities locked in time and still fighting and living as they did seven hundred and fifty years earlier. These two cities founded by Crusaders are were Tarzan comes to the rescue by becoming involved in the Joust and earning the respect of the Knights. Of the twenty four Tarzan novels by Burroughs I have read this move from the jungle does not work as well as the first time Tarzan encountered a loss civilization and being out of his element this time does not enhance the Tarzan story line. But in the end we have the Tarzan of the jungle that we know with his Golden Lion.
