    Introduction

Have you ever witnessed a miracle with your own eyes?

In just a few short hours, I found my life turned upside down when my husband became critically ill and immediately my life had the possibility of looking very different. Throughout our journey, the Lord performed miracle after miracle.

I want to share our story with you to ignite a real passion to believe God for the miracle you need in your life or the life of your loved one! Not only will our story give you hope, but you will see God as you have never seen Him before.

You will see, how even in the midst of your greatest heartache and trial, that He is there with you, showering you with God kisses, drying your tears, and walking hand in hand with you each moment.

If you are in a battle for your life or your loved one’s life, this book is for YOU! This book will provide you with a battle plan so you can win with the right plan of attack!

This book will equip you with twelve keys to victory as you are believing for the miraculous! Each key will inspire you with a real-life experience and give you practical ways to apply these truths as you walk through your own fiery trial.

You will also discover more about God, who He really is, and who IS the fourth man in your fire!

Fear will have no place in your heart and mind as you start to understand that God is for you, and He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that you can ask or even think!

If God can make the sun stop in the sky and not set so the Israelites could defeat their enemies in the daytime, do you think He cannot give you a miracle?

A dead man was thrown on the bones of Elisha, and immediately, he came back to life (II Kings 13:21) Is there anything too hard for our God?

Your faith will soar to new heights as you meditate on the many scriptures and promises of God that are available to you. You will be astounded by what you will begin to see take place as you speak and declare them in faith over your own life as you believe God for the miraculous.

The question is, will you believe?

    From the Heart

My dear sister in Christ, I want to speak to you from my heart. Let me say that I know you are hurting right now. Maybe your husband or child has just been diagnosed with a horrible disease, or maybe involved in a traumatic accident and you have found yourself in the waiting room of an ICU or possibly by the bedside of your loved one crying in agony.  Your heart feels shattered. In those moments it is sometimes difficult to see much of anything except fear, grief, sadness, loneliness and brokenness. Believe me, I know. I know how you feel, I have been there myself. I have heard it said that you can’t truly understand what someone is feeling unless you have walked a mile in their shoes.  My heart feels for you because I have walked with my husband as he walked through the valley of the shadow of death. The excruciating pain, grief and heartache were not something I would have wished on my worst enemy, but I want to tell you that there is hope for your heart and for the one that you love.

I want you to know that God is still in the miracle working business. It is something that brings Him great pleasure. His love for us is truly extravagant. I am a living witness to His greatness and His goodness. He spoke to me many times during this valley, and He was always faithful to keep His word to me, and He will be faithful to you too!

I know there are moments of anguish so deep that you feel like you can barely breathe, I was there too. My sweet friend, He never left my side for a moment, all the while, He was watching over my husband, my love while he was paralyzed and in a medically induced coma.

God’s word says in Psalm 34:18 that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  He did not leave my side and I know He is right there with you faithfully through it all. God is nearer to you than your next breath, and I promise if you will look for Him, you will find God kisses on that painful road on which you are traveling.

Rest assured my sweet sister, He loves you and He cares for you, and through it all He will never leave you or forsake you. Best of all, He still works miracles, and He is just waiting for you to reach out in faith to receive yours!

It would be my honor to hear your testimony of how the Lord has worked in your life through this book. Please reach out to me at

BeckyWhitakerMinistries@gmail.com to share your prayer requests, praise reports of victories and how the Lord has ministered to you through sharing our experience with you.  I cannot wait to hear from you, my sister! All praise belongs to Him!

    Much love,

    Becky

    Chapter 1

    Sunny Days

    I

t had been thirteen excruciatingly long days. I was shaking inside as I walked through the long hallways and up the elevator to the fifth floor. The room was cold and very dimly lit. The sound of the machine rising and falling was loud in my ear, but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw or the way my heart felt when I walked through the door.

Our story started in the late summer of 2021. We had just moved to Spring Hill, Tennessee for a fresh start. We had both accepted new job opportunities and of course this meant new school experiences for our children as well. We had lived in this same city about 14 years prior to that time but had moved back to our hometown during an economically challenging time. During the time we previously lived in Spring Hill, our children were still toddlers, we had fallen in love with the area and developed lifelong, precious relationships at our church, Cornerstone, that would prove a vital and important piece that the Lord would use mightily in this chapter of our lives. These are some of the reasons we had chosen to move back to that area in specific in 2021.

We really wanted to get back to our church, which we considered our home and to an area we felt was a great environment for thriving careers, entertainment and would be beneficial for our family for a host of reasons.

We were just getting settled in our new home in the first part of July. The grueling task of moving was something we had become all too familiar with.

We had moved several times for my career in the past several years, and honestly, we hoped this would be the last move for a while. We celebrated Independence Day with family, swimming at the pool, and then the kids and I watched fireworks on the roof of our new house while my husband was on a road trip taking our loyal friend back home. He had given of himself and had come out to help us move and get settled in our new home. Thank the Lord for those kinds of friends, right?

Everything seemed like the change in pace, the change in scenery and surroundings was going to be just what we wanted and needed. We enjoyed the rest of that month, getting the kids registered for their new school and helping our boys get acquainted with the new city.

Before we knew it August was in full swing. The boys had started school and were just starting to adjust to their new routine. I had started working as a Facilities Manager for a company in Nashville, and Terry had started a new position as a shipping manager at a local cabinet company.  Change had been a part of our lives all too often over the recent years due to job changes, new promotions, as well as job loss, new cities, setbacks and challenges.  Each time, we thought we were more prepared for the challenge at hand, but nothing in my wildest dreams could’ve prepared us for what was about to happen next.

    Chapter 2

    Cloudy Skies

    I

n mid to late August, Terry had come home from work several days in a row telling me that Covid was going around in the department he was supervising and that there were two confirmed cases with employees he worked closely with. Since the pandemic started in 2020 and up until that point, none of us had contracted Covid, and we thought the worst of it had peaked nationwide, and it seemed to be on a downward trend.

On Tuesday, August 24th 2021, Terry mentioned to me as we were heading to bed that night that his throat felt a little scratchy, but that was it.  We assumed that it was really nothing to worry about, but maybe was allergies or just the beginning of a cold. We spent a little time talking and watching television and went to sleep. The next morning, I had gotten up early to go to work and left Terry in bed. He called me about 10:00 a.m. and could barely speak. He told me that he was extremely sick, and he needed me to come home, that he was afraid to be by himself feeling the way that he did. I told my boss that I needed to leave to go check on him and headed home. It took me about forty minutes to drive home and I could not figure out what could possibly have made him so very sick in just a few short hours.

I arrived home around 11:00 a.m. to find Terry passed out on the bathroom floor. I do not remember when, if ever, that I was so scared. I knew he told me that he was terribly ill, but honestly, I did not expect it to be so severe so fast. He was burning up with a fever of 103 and had been having terrible episodes of throwing up and diarrhea. His throat continued to hurt, and he was having aches and chills as well. It took me a good bit to get him up off the bathroom floor and back into the bed. I tried to get him to Urgent Care that morning, but he was simply too weak.

I went to the pharmacy near our house to buy some at-home Covid diagnostic tests and some Gatorade to replace some electrolytes that he had lost, and I honestly was still hoping that he would start feeling better in a day or two. I completed the home test, and it came back negative. We were back to square one, trying to determine what could possibly have made him so sick.

The next morning, I was able to get him into the van and take him to the Urgent Care clinic. He was diagnosed with Covid and sent home with no medications and was told to quarantine, rest, and treat symptoms with over-the-counter medications for relief. Over the next 2-3 days, one by one, our two boys, Elijah and Sam along with myself were all diagnosed Covid positive.  I had everyone quarantined in their own rooms, with Terry in our bedroom and I stayed down in the living room, so I could try to take care of everyone with food, drinks and medicine.  Fortunately, the boys did not have a very aggressive or bad case and were mostly achy, and their throats were hurting, but their symptoms were mild, and for that I am so very thankful.  I continued to feel worse and started having pain in my lung, and I went back to Urgent Care on 8/31 and was diagnosed with Covid pneumonia. They sent me home with antibiotics, steroids and an inhaler.

Terry continued to get more and more ill by the day.  He continued to feel worse and felt like he was having a harder time breathing.  I did manage to get him back to Urgent Care on 9/1, and he was diagnosed with Covid pneumonia as well. Terry’s oxygen levels were sitting at about 90, and the doctor told us that he needed oxygen therapy and should be evaluated at a local hospital.  We left the Urgent Care facility and drove straight to the hospital for evaluation. At that time, there were still extremely strict protocols at the hospital that did not allow visitors or anyone except for patients. I checked him in, and they made me go back and sit in our van. My mind was reeling with thoughts of how he was……what were they telling him? I stayed in the van and honestly thought they would wind up keeping him. He was in there for about five hours and all of a sudden, he called and said they were sending him home. He said that they had given him oxygen therapy and that it had gotten back up to 95, and because of that, they were sending him home.  I pulled around to the Emergency room entrance to pick him up, and he was barely able to get back in the van. They had not given him any prescriptions to try and help him get better. I was so frustrated and desperate at this point that I was honestly starting to get worried. He was getting sicker by the minute it seemed, and none of the providers he had seen offered any prescriptions as a treatment option. I honestly couldn’t figure that out since the same provider had given me three prescriptions, and I felt like I was making slight progress, but I was nowhere near as sick as he was either.

We got back home from the hospital, and I had only one option left that I knew of. My friend Tracee was a huge help to me from the very start. It seemed like crazy timing but in retrospect, it was the providence of God, but she had exactly the same thing going on in her family with her son-in-law, who had just been diagnosed with Covid complications just a week or so prior to Terry. Tracee was able to give me the information for a Telehealth doctor to try and see if we could get results that way. I made the appointment, and we completed the telehealth visit. The telehealth doctor did call Terry in six prescriptions including an antibiotic, ivermectin, steroids, vitamins, and a nebulizer treatment for his lungs. Finally, I was feeling like this maybe this would help his body fight and start recovering. Each day, although we were faithfully making sure he was getting his medications and treatments, he just continued to get worse and worse. I had a pulse oximeter that I continually took his oxygen levels and heart rate with multiple times each day. He was getting weaker by the minute,
