About this ebook

Heather

When I inherit Gran's house, I think it's a miracle.
My shoddy apartment was in a sketchy part of town.
I rarely slept through the night.
But now, I'm in a cute little house in a safe neighborhood.
I even have a crazy hot handyman neighbor.
I think I'm falling for him.
Hard.

Ethan

Before my sweet elderly neighbor passed, she made me promise to look after her granddaughter.
To keep her safe.
To keep any unworthy man from taking advantage.
It seems like an easy request.
Until I meet Heather.
She's stunning, sassy, and stealing my heart.
My promise is a lot harder to keep now because I can't seem to stay away.

Sweet & steamy short story insta-love romance with an older blue collar hero and younger curvy woman with an HEA. NO cliffhangers. NO cheating.

    HEATHER

Are you sure that’s a good idea? my bestie Dani says as she watches me shove the last tote bag in my overstuffed little car. The poor sedan is weighed down with as much of my things as I could cram in it. And I do mean cram.

It’ll be fine. I wipe away a bead of sweat from my brow before turning to face her skeptical eyes.

You’re going to bottom out leaving the parking lot.

I should probably make a couple extra trips—or hire movers—but it’s better this way. I hate this crummy neighborhood and rundown apartment complex. It even comes with its own stalkerish neighbor down the hall, Tim.

    I won’t miss Creepy Tim.

    I’ll drive slow.

I wish I could stay and help you—

Dani, you have ice cream experts to woo. You’re not missing the appointment that could make you and your family millionaires overnight. I got this. My best friend is an app developer—or was. A damn good one who wasn’t appreciated at the company she worked for. When they laid her off, she followed her dream to create an ice cream locator app. It took off like wildfire and now she gets daily calls from her old day job, begging her to come back.

    I can reschedule, she insists.

I love you for the offer, but I won’t let you do that. I give that stubborn tote bag one last shove with both arms and a kick before slamming the back door shut. Stupid thing can double in size if it gets a breath of air. I only have one more trip after this. I can handle it.

    You’re sure?

Yes. I hate the idea of returning here all alone. Even just one more time is enough to send a shiver up my spine. If Jenn, my roommate, hadn’t been living with me the past couple of years, I would’ve moved sooner. But the rent was ridiculously cheap. Exactly what I needed to ensure my baby sister went to college without a mass of debt to follow her.

Jenn moved out last week, and well, fate had plans for me too.

Text me, okay? If Creepy Tim bothers you—

I have two cans of pepper spray in my purse. Actually, one is bear spray, but I don’t need Dani to panic. I can suck it up for one last trip, and I’ll use the bear spray on Creepy Tim if he gets too close. In fact, it almost sounds fun.

Dani throws her arms around me and squeezes tight. I’m sorry about Gran, but I’m so happy you’re getting the hell out of here. I hate this place more than you do.

    I know.

My little car struggles out of the parking lot, promising a slow drive across town. I’ll probably need new shocks after this—but they’ll have to wait like everything else on the list. I stick to residential streets to piss off the least amount of people.
