rapped in true heartfelt feelings of sympathy and love, this manuscript is hereby forthwith dedicated to the beloved inspiring Elders of our Island in Flowers whence proudly descended we under the serene tropic sun, while bathed by the soothing froths of the Atlantic turquoise in our magical isle of Brava, Cabo Verde. It only were by them to me enabled, of whose precious lessons in life and human love I were spared from evil and encouraged along, at times most tender, delirious and frail of my young life. Through the whole of this painstaking trail they have been my True North and inspiration in my life’s strides and intellectual toils. Beacon of guide and hope in all tenebrous hours of my endeavoring life, of them I carry with me the memories which best aid my conduct and enrich my soul alight. I make of their meaningful words those of my own, when I speak of matters concerning the Human Cause and devote my ardent best plausible thoughts toward most earnest ends of Universal Literary, Personal Ideology, Philosophy, and the matter of Social Equity.

    Gone yet not forgotten, Duke!

    A note regarding the Author:

    D

uke R Silva is an industrious author, whose works in poetry seek to touch all Almas (souls) through their relating and fashioning to common life and experiences, aimed at uplifting the spirit and nourishing the reading mind. It could be said of his poetry to be a true image of his soul, conveying stories, messaging ideas and sentiments, while ironically criticizing the human life where it failed its higher purpose acme.

His work range from poetic styles in Abstract, Ballad, Dramatic, Free Verse, Elegy, Lyric, Epigram and Narrative… he ranges his writing materials formation from those of Life’s experiences and hardships, Romance and matters of the heart, human bond and shared values, culture and customs, social justice and equity, socio-political critique, blended with metaphysics, existentialism and moralism philosophical principles. He emulates poetic history while inspired by Ancient Bards and prose logicians.

Born February 28, 1962, on the tropic shores of the peaceable and loving Rep of Cabo Verde, he settled in the USA in 1980 along with his loving siblings.

His scholastic feats have been sought through the hard trails of life dating back to homeland’s good teachings, being the thirst for broad knowledge and general culture that which magnetized his curiosities, greatly inclined toward creative arts and free abound inquiries into the matter of human animation and history, as aided by the Polaris faculty in Moralism Philosophy and Universal Literature.

His composing style tend to exhibit a palate toward free verses and prose with greater prevalence to others, although Abstract and Lyric remain not far.

    Introduction:

he day was the first in the tabulated timekeeping assigned to January in the year of The Lord Ⓒ circa 1972. It was a mild atmospheric morning in the valley which comprised our humble village, wherein all its good folks rose to the excitement of a new year. The social common mood always rose from great to supreme in days like this. Children such as us, insatiably-curious and energetic, arose early to take part in the celebration and indulge on our portions, as well as those which grownups might had dismissed. There an intonation cut through the airs and captivated the neighborhood over, into that familiar hypnotic state that only such troubadours of Morna could produce. It was an acoustic folklore quartet that had finished its night’s entertaining of the traditional New Year’s Eve celebration, and now were decided sleeplessly to continue, by going house-to-house of those better acquainted with, and offer their salute, play some songs and share a drink of that sweetly-sedating homeisland’ s moonshine, Grogu. This visit was within the tradition of land for such an occasion. At the young age of ten, still I could not help to admire their human warmth, vigor and camaraderie, while they exhibited the most talented perform before the household, in a total of four pieces. Excepting the NY celebratory one, songs all were muddling and lyrically-messaging, played in blue rhythm and tones, as though sonnets of a poetic recital being accompanied by instrumental adorn. The lead guitarist also sang two of the four, in a soulful air of a singer spiritually-connected to his music. -He cried them-, to be more justly precise, as his eyes boiled in tears of melancholic joy before the household and neighbors who harmoniously had come to join us. The band had travelled far through the misty dawn, descending down the village just then. But they reached not far for those sentimental tunes, as there readily were
