    Christmas Joy?

    Christmas.

When many people hear that word, they immediately feel happy, for Christmas is a time of joy, giving, and colorful decorations.

Sounds delightful, doesn’t it? However, there have been times throughout the centuries that sadness has enveloped the land, sucking all the enjoyment from this festive time of year. Much as a blood-sucking vampire.

This delight did not come to the United States though until 1870, when the government decided to make Christmas an official celebration. Over two hundred years later! That’s a long time for trees there to wait. Can you imagine waiting two hundred years...oh, never mind...humans don’t live that long.

    Anyway, gradually, as people
