Chapter 1

The Escape

To celebrate a great feat such as capturing the Ender Dragon, Steve ordered a feast. The feast was also to celebrate the alliance between the World of Crunch and Steve's village. King Magnus' appearance on the battlefield contributed greatly to the victory they won; the feast was a way to show his appreciation of King Magnus and his soldiers. During the feast, Ralph cautiously watched every move Colt made. He was certain that the Witch had given Colt a directive to betray them. 

Colt noticed Ralph's gaze on him, and it made him very uncomfortable. He slowly started to believe his mother was right about Alex and her friends never trusting him completely. While the party was still going, King Magnus asked to speak to Steve alone, as he had much to say to him. They went outside the hall where the feast was being held. "I would really like us to form an alliance, so we can help each other freely through hard times," King Magnus told Steve when they were outside.

"I believe that is a great idea, and I am more than willing to agree to that," Steve replied

"Do not hesitate to call me if you ever need anything, as I won’t either." King Magnus laughed as he said that. His expression couldn’t hide the fact that he was impressed that Steve had been able to hold his kingdom together, even though he was such a young ruler.

"I will be sure to take you up on that when the time comes." Steve gave a courtesy bow to show his appreciation. Both kings talked for a while before they returned back to join the festivities.

When they got inside, one of the soldiers was talking about how Steve held his ground and stuck a spear through the Ender Dragon. As soon as the soldiers and villagers saw Steve come in, they all rose and cheered for him.

"Long live the brave King Steve," they kept chanting.

Steve was glad that the battle had not caused as much damage as they had initially feared. The celebration went on until late in the morning. Those who wanted to stay up all night did, and those who couldn’t, went to bed when they felt so.

The next morning, King Magnus and his troops set out on their journey back home. Steve had asked him to stay for a few days, but he protested on the premise that he had to go back to his kingdom as they were still recovering from all the Vindicators had done to them. Steve saw King Magnus off to the entrance of the village. After King Magnus was out of sight, Alex, Ralph, Romeo, Steve, and Colt decided to go see the Ender Dragon they had captured.

The size of the Ender Dragon made it difficult for them to move it, so they just left it at the initial spot they had captured it. They had wanted to station soldiers around it, but none was brave enough to get close to the Ender Dragon out of fear that she might break free and devour them.

"It is even bigger than I imagined," Ralph exclaimed when they were standing next to the dragon.

Romeo had the same fear as the soldiers. He refused to go near it. Even after Alex tried to make him believe it was okay by touching the Ender Dragon. He insisted he was okay at the distance from which he was observing the dragon.

You must feel so great for coming up with such a plan to capture me. Steve heard a voice in his head say. He looked at Ralph as he thought Ralph was the one who spoke, but Ralph seemed to be busy admiring the Ender Dragon. He looked at Alex, but she, too, was occupied. Steve believed he must have just been hearing things.

You don't have to search far. I am right in front of you. Steve looked at the dragon in front of him and jerked to the realization that the dragon was speaking to him through telepathy. He wanted to tell the others immediately. They wouldn't believe you; they just think you're crazy. So, don't even bother. Don't think you have won just because you captured me, I know I'll break free from these chains, and when I do, I'll rain down fire on you and your people, the dragon continued.

Steve's mood immediately changed. He wanted to tell his friends what the dragon had said to him, but he wasn't even sure if it was the dragon speaking or if he had imagined things. So, he kept it to himself. "I am going to head back," Steve told the others, as he wanted to be alone to ponder on what he had heard.

Happening at almost the same time, the dragon started talking to Alex, Ralph, Romeo, and Colt.

To Ralph, it said; Alex is in trouble. Someone close to her will betray her and cause harm to her. I know you already know who it is. So, it is best you act quickly before it is too late. Ralph felt he had been right all along about Colt. He gave in to the words he heard in his head. He believed it was a divine warning, and he felt if he told the others, they would think he was just being paranoid.

To Colt, on the other hand, the dragon said, They know you've been a bad boy since you were little. Do you think they truly would accept you because you helped them escape? If nothing, they are just using you. You've done nothing but help them from the first time. Once you teach Alex magic, they will discard you. You're better off going back to the only person who is bad, just like you. Colt had never known the dragon could talk, so it shocked him just as it did the others. He wanted to shut the voice out, but it got louder the more he tried to shut it out.

Alex was touching the wings of the Ender Dragon when she heard the voice in her head. The Chosen One, you seem to have forgotten that this is not your home. Have you decided to leave your parents to the fate that befell them? Don't you want to go back home? Instead of you finding the stones and making your way back to your original world, you spend your days here as if this is where you belong. There is nothing great about forgetting your roots. You shall be the end of all your friends here and the end of this world. Alex immediately took her hand off the Ender Dragon as she thought the voice was a result of touching the dragon.

Due to the distance at which Romeo stood, the Ender Dragon wasn't able to reach him. He had watched from a distance as all his friends played around with the Ender Dragon, he also wanted to join them, but he was really scared of it.

Alex was the first to say she wanted to go back, then Colt and Ralph decided to go with her, as they too
