- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5These books have beautiful illustrations. I love this Christmas version.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Having progressed from being quiet to being loud, the adorable cast of animal characters from Deborah Underwood and Renata Liwska's The Quiet Book and The Loud Book! return to being quiet in this charming seasonal picture-book, which features the same simple text and delightful artwork as its predecessors. There are many kinds of Christmas quiet, it turns out, and quite a few of them are set out here, accompanied by soft-edged artwork that deftly captures each scene. As with the first two concept picture-books from this talented author/illustrator duo, I found The Christmas Quiet Book quite appealing. There isn't much of a story here, just a list of quiet things - "Cocoa quiet," or "Star on top quiet" - but the simple, serene text, when combined with the lovely artwork, would make for a peaceful bedtime selection, I think. Predictably, given my fondness for wintry vistas, my favorite scene involved the rabbit family trekking through the twilight snow.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5PSC review: This companion book to The Quiet Book and The Loud Book would be perfect to share with quiet mood music playing as the book is read. Yes, there is Christmas quiet, cocoa quiet, looking for presents quiet, snow angel quiet. Now I do question the Christmas morning quiet! Is that just the wishful thinking of a tired mom? This “mood book” sets the stage for a peaceful bedtime. Underwood’s prose and Liwska’s illustrations go together so well. Liwska has created gentle little animals with wonderful expressions. I’d like to see the book trailer made into a video. It has that kind of feel like Owl Moon and The Snowman, for gentling the excitement of kids near Christmas.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I heard over a year ago that Renata Liwska was illustrating this book and at last I have it in my hands. It more than meets my expectations. One of the nicest additions to my Christmas picture book collection in a long time. Love Nutcracker quiet.
