Distilled Thought - Babul Kumar Baruah
Preface
This book is a collection of few articles, rather collection of certain thoughts which I decided to reduce into writing.
Usually, I am fond of reading historical document as well as philosophical one. My articles are product of these readings at different point of time. My reaction to the experience was, no doubt, very positive and therefore, I thought of sharing it with my sensible and prudent readers.
I was a student of English Literature in my college and university days and therefore having organic affinity for reading books.
During pandemic period, everyone had ample free time, of course along with fear and anxiety and what not.
I started writing something what finally turned out to be an auto biographical travelogue. Hence, I decided to publish this collection of few articles which are individually different from each other. In this context, I humbly and solemnly affirm that the contents of the articles are composed as food for thought and to entertain the mind of the readers and if possible to sensitise the soul for a better and peaceful planet.
The rising conflict among the nations is a matter of great concern. We cannot afford any war, we don’t need anymore holy wars, what we need is tolerance and brotherhood and humble humanity.
It is high time that we have to stop living as strangers in this planet.
I like to add the great saying of Martin Luther King Junior we must live together as brothers or perish together as fools.
Article on Vincent Van Gogh was focused on The Potato Eaters
for its theme and expressionism though his magnum opus is The Starry Night
. But The potato eaters
is a masterpiece of Van Gogh in its own right. Further, little thought on ecological imbalance of the planet was tried to be captured through The Lung of the Planet
.
The significant Global warming has sent a red signal for all of us in the days to come. The global temperature is projected to rise by about 1.5 degree Celsius by 2050 which is quite alarming. At present, we are witnessing the severe rise of temperature from July, 2023 throughout the world.
The annexation of the topic on Silk Road to the collection is only to have adventure of the past. The journey covered by Peter Frankopan through Silk Road is a different one but honestly speaking his projection is nearing the truth.
While lighting The light of the Planet
I tried to visualize a land of brotherhood through the ‘’Light of Asia’’ which further enlightens east, west, north and south altogether.
Horrors of war already have darkened the sky of this magnificent planet. Therefore, efforts have been made to ventilate it through my limited resource.
Live by the sword, die by the Sword
. Hence Jesus says – Put up again thy sword into his place; for all those that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
We observe that the mounting defence budget of the developed nations is going to manufacture another Frankenstein.
History is being repeated in all corner of the planet. Sometime, I behold around to trace roadmap for emancipation, the roadmap for salvation, the roadmap for cool Tolerance.
Finally, it is my sublime submission to the sensible readers to bear with me at least for this time and join me for a reflection…
A Time for Brotherhood
The Planet that we are living in, is a wonderful place with around 8 Billion people, out of which China and India alone contribute 280 Crores. Besides., the mounting inflation, the bloody wars, devastating pandemic, natural calamity and other negative factors are nudging
