    Disclaimer:

Most how to books say something like this: The authors make no guarantees about your results. All success requires risk and hard work. The testimonials are from people who took additional training from us, and your mileage may vary.

    Strawn and Scott add:

You should factor in the uncontrollable Supernatural.

As in, God just zaps you like He has done people throughout history. There’s Saul on the Road to Damascus—struck blind, healed, and constantly jailed thereafter. And Jonah. Swallowed by a great fish and then vomited out to do what he was called to do in the first place. As you read, remember that God is never arbitrary. He is, however, quite deliberate.

    About the Authors

    Introduction

But when he came to himself, he said… ‘I will arise and go to my father…’

Imagine that you have fallen deeply asleep on an airplane.

You are so weary from the security checkpoint and officials and running to your gate where you are the last to board, stumbling over people’s legs and arms in the aisles and hefting your carry-on to the last available overhead bin.

You have sunk deep into your seat, put your head against the window and within moments your fatigue robs you of consciousness.

In your dream, you hear voices around you but can’t understand what they’re saying because the cabin sounds are roaring. Only one voice breaks in here and then and you know it is a voice of authority, but you can’t grasp the words.

And you have stopped caring, even when the airplane rocks with turbulence, because your sleep is so profound.

And then when you awaken, it is because your ears are popping and the light from the window is in your eyes. You come to yourself slowly, and look outside the window.

In the distance are the familiar mountains of home.

Suddenly you know the meaning of the mystery of the sounds and motions you experienced while you were sleeping. You are traveling through something.

    Like clouds parting to show your destination, you realize that all the things that happened are deliberate, and comforting, and welcoming;

leading you to an eternal home,

and at last, now you’ll be able to understand the path.

Mapless No More: How to Read this Book

The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing—to reach the Mountain, to find the place where all the beauty came from…

     C. S. Lewis, Till We Have Faces

Why did I write this book?

I care personally for your spiritual condition.

    Who should read this book?

Those of you who are hanging on, as you deal with the dumpster-fires of life.

People with a sense that our society, our culture is profoundly unwell.

Those who know something very important is missing from their spiritual lives.

Those who have lost touch with God.

Those who never felt they could touch the power of God in the first place.

Why you should read this book.

Though you may be unknown to me, I pray often for you to know what I and thousands of others have learned.

Because it truly will help you know God better and restores a sense of awe and wonder in your awareness.

Because it truly will help you survive the stresses of this life.

Because it will help you have a grand—even thrilling!—overview of God’s love and purposes.

So you can feel fully alive.

I have two goals for you, and I’m telling you these things up front.

    Goal Number One

I want you to know that having genuine and useful faith is not only possible, but that God Himself is personally invested in your faith.

Let me be your guide, like a wilderness guide who would show you the way around the unmapped wilds until you get the terrain. So that you will have the map in your mind and your heart, and will never be lost again.

In this short book, I am giving you practical help right now to know what faith is and how to start activating it in your everyday life.

These are REAL-LIFE strategies to help you win the war against depression and discouragement.

Allow me to joyfully lead you to the River of Life and refresh your feet in that cool, life-giving stream of faith that you’ve been yearning for your whole life, and hope you’ll want to continue in that joy.

All of it possible and doable within the pages of this book.

This is by far the most important thing I’ve ever known, ever practiced, and ever taught.

So many eyes cleared and hearts opened! People tell me about a new transcendence. About life-long mysteries solved. About escape from confusion and uncertainty, into a community of awe-struck believers over thousands of years.

    Goal Number Two

I have a second goal for you.

I want to get this map so firmly into your mind that you’ll want to know more about how to have genuine and activated faith. This will be exhilarating for you!

You will begin to dare that you can be spiritually alive. Your taste for this kind of mental and spiritual stability will make you thirst for more and I hope you’ll grant me the privilege to train you, like a physical coach would train you, to develop your
