Whispers of Despair - Saanvee Kansal
His Smile
he’s got a little innocence in his smile;
it’s one of those smiles that you rarely come across,
it’s so perfectly imperfect,
yet so contagious.
his smile could brighten the day of thousands,
but when he smiled at me,
i knew i was in trouble.
everything around me suddenly seemed to be so perfect,
and that’s when i knew,
i had fallen in love with it.
Darkness
i thought ‘pain’ was just a word
and ‘loneliness’ was just a feeling -
until that day when I felt it, deeply.
it’s stronger than the thoughts
and deeper than the words;
It’s a never-ending cycle.
it’s like fighting the urge to die, constantly
but how would you know?
when everyday behind this smile,
I hide it so gracefully.
Dad Jokes
it’s the dad jokes that he gets,
it’s really the only way we communicate.
the jokes piss him off,
the first time he doesn’t get them,
he looks at me, and then with a grin looks away.
i tell him the same joke, the second time,
and that’s when he smiles at me
and walks away.
it’s his smile that gets me every time.
it’s contagious- i would say,
but what’s the point of it all?
because to him, i’m just a little girl.
