Healing

‘Beloved, I pray that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers’- 3 John 2.

It is regrettable that today, most children of God are not living in perfect health. This is because Satan knows that a healthy child of God is vibrant, full of strength, and able to wage war against his kingdom and win.

Health, in the context of this book, refers to a state of physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. True health springs from the soul, and the life of a healthy soul is an instrument of immense value in the hands of God. For this reason, most of the attacks that manifest on human faces and bodies reflect the attacks on their souls.

The various forms of attacks unleashed on man by Satan are directed toward making him unfit to serve his Creator and deny the Creator His desired pleasure upon man. Revelation 4:11  ‘O Lord, You are worthy to receive glory and honour and power, because You created all things, and for Your pleasure they are and were created.’

For example, a man without a job or any means of livelihood and in a desperate but unsuccessful search for one may not have a settled mind to pray, praise and serve God. A deteriorating condition of a man’s health is also a significant hindrance to the vibrant service of the Creator.

This book seeks to identify the myriads of problems that befall christians due to Satanic attacks and to, without mincing words, reveal through the Holy Scriptures how men of faith overcame such in their lifetimes. I believe that you will let your faith be stirred up to take the bull of sickness and any named and unnamed oppression by the horn with prevailing prayers to overcome the works and designs of the evil kingdom; and that God may have His purpose fulfilled in your life – praising, worshipping and serving Him.

God may use afflictions and sicknesses from which one desires healing to arrest the attention of a rebellious child, people, or nation- Psalm 119:67 ‘Before I was afflicted I went astray....’

When Miriam offended God by dishonouring Moses, God allowed her to be afflicted with leprosy to punish her, and afterward, she was restored-Numbers 12:1-15.

Each time the nation of Israel sinned against God, He punished them with different afflictions- physical sicknesses, famine, and captivity-Judges 3:7-10. However, when they repented, He always delivered and restored them.

However, there were times when afflictions from God led to death. When King Uzziah wanted to perform the role meant for God’s priest, he was rebuked by Azariah, and consequently, God struck him with leprosy, which was not healed in his life. 2 Chronicles 26:16-21.

King Herod also sinned by accepting God’s glory, and since God will not share His glory with any man, God killed him with a terrible disease- Acts 12:21-23, ‘and on a certain day, Herod sat on his throne, dressed in royal clothing, and made a speech to them. And the people gave a shout, saying, it is the voice of a god and not of a man!

And immediately the angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give God the glory. And he was eaten by worms and gave up the spirit.’

May God help us not to sin against Him unto death in Jesus' name. Amen.

The good news is that the ever-loving God does not want any of His children to be sick in any form, and when we are sick, He wants to heal all our diseases-

Psalm 103:3, ‘...who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases;’

Matthew 4:24 ‘and His fame went throughout all Syria. And they brought to Him all those being badly ill suffering various diseases and torments, and those who had been possessed with demons, and those who were lunatic, and paralytics. And He healed them.’

As you come to this same God, may you be healed in Jesus' name.

Chapter Two

Affliction

Affliction refers to anything that results in pain, distress, grief, or misery. The resultant pain could be bodily or mental as sickness, loss, calamity, or persecution.

Forms of Affliction

Let us examine some forms of affliction to have an understanding of them.

Plague

This refers to any form of infection that kills many people.

Plague was used by God in different forms against Egypt to humble Pharaoh so he could let Israel go and be delivered from his captivity. These plagues significantly killed the Egyptians when their king refused to let the people of God go. Despite Pharaoh’s pride, God still repented by stopping the plagues from raging each time he agreed to let Israel go.

Exodus  8:1-13, Exodus 32:35.

Anytime God plagued the children of Israel for their sins, He always healed them when they repented.

After defeating Canaan, Israel sinned against God, and He plagued them. They quickly repented, and God asked Moses to make a replica of the serpent and raise it so that whoever was bitten and looked at the serpent that was raised would be healed.

In essence, it is God’s perfect will that everyone plagued should receive healing whenever they turn unto Him in repentance.

There are many plagues in our world today- some curable, some incurable (according to medical science). However, with God, nothing is impossible. I pray that the merciful God will heal every plague in your life in Jesus's name. Amen.

Disease 

Though similar to plague, disease is any illness affecting humans, animals, or plants, often caused by infections. Disease may not necessarily kill many people at a time, like plagues, but it affects specific organs and parts of the body. A man can suffer from blood disease, liver disease, kidney disease, etc.
