    Preface

This story will sound like a fairy tale at times. Just remember fact is often stranger than fiction. The bible has always seemed to be a mysterious collection of books written by forty different authors yet maintaining a specific theme.

This story involves history, prophecies, and the power behind a physical stone. This physical stone eventually outlasts its significance but passes on to the future a metaphorical significance to events and kings of the future. The Rock or Stone we are going to study becomes a connection between a powerful God and His chosen people. This Rock once performed lifesaving miracles by bringing forth water to thousands of people who were in a desert with no water. Many events of crowning rulership are accompanied by this stone at times in modern history. It was not worshipped as a God like the Pagans tend to do with physical objects. It was revered as a touch stone between God and His people. This rock was more like a flag that represented a kingdom and power behind it.

This stone was a beginning of understanding the providence of God. As Jacob traveled, he stopped for the night to rest. He rested his head upon this stone.

This stone represented the providence of God, which is the presence of the power of God by which there is a constant communication kept up between heaven and earth. The counsels of heaven are executed on earth, and the affairs of this earth are all known in heaven. God does his work gradually and by steps; angels are employed as ministering spirits to serve all the designs of God. The wisdom of God is at the upper end of the ladder, directing all the motions of second causes to his glory. The angels are active spirits, continually ascending and descending; they rest not day nor night. They ascend to give account of what they have done, and to receive orders. They descend to execute the orders they have received. This vision gave comfort to Jacob, letting him know that he had both a good guide and good guard; that though he was to wander from his father’s house, yet he was the care of God, and the charge of the holy angels.

The dream also represents The mediation of Christ. This ladder is a metaphor for Christ: the foot on earth in his human nature, the top in heaven in his divine nature. All the engagements between heaven and earth since the appearance of Christ on the earth is by this ladder. ¹Christ is the way: all God’s favors come to us, and all our services come to the Father God, by Christ. If God dwell with us, and we with him, it is by Christ. We have no way of communicating with heaven but by this ladder; for the kind offices the angels do us, are all owing to Christ, who has reconciled things on earth and things in heaven.

When this Stone has served its initial purpose, it is retired physically but its power to represent a king, a government, and a purposeful life continues in the hearts of men. This Stone is found in prophecies of the bible, and we shall explore them.

    ¹ Colossians 1:20

    Introduction

Prophecy is a complicated subject to study. The bible does not let you read it like a novel. It is here and there scattered all through the bible. This is because prophecy came to the prophets at various times down through history.

Prophecy supplies a window into the future of events. Some prophecies are meant for specific groups or individuals. Some prophecies have been fulfilled as time goes by and the events become obvious. A lot of prophecies are mixed in with the current events of the times when the prophets wrote. In some cases, prophecies have a dual type that occurs in ancient history and is predicted to happen again in the latter days.

Latter days is a term that gives you a clue to the time a type of the prophecy will happen again. There are also words used by the old prophets that describe certain things. For example: Mountain is used to represent a Kingdom. The seas are used to represent masses of people. Horn is used to represent power or a king. Various animals are used to describe the nature and character of a kingdom. Elements such as gold, silver, brass, iron, and clay are used to describe the quality of the kingdom. The use of the word Head stands for a kingdom also. In the book of revelation, John uses locusts, supper, scorpions, and other things to describe the things in the visions that are future things he has no modern description for.

I am going to unpack the prophecy concerning the world of manmade kingdoms and the coming kingdom of God. You will gain some level of understanding of what is going to happen in the future.

The sure thing is that the prophecies in the book of Revelation are direct visions from Jesus Christ to John the Apostle. There is a scripture in Hebrews I would like you to consider.

Hebrews 1:1. God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.

Another aspect of prophecy is that it is of no private interpretation.

2Peter 1:19-21. "We have also a surer word of prophecy; where you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of the man but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."

There can be a fair amount of speculation about prophecy, and one should be careful to mention this when they are relating certain aspects of the subject.

Many times, the prophecy interprets itself when there are other scriptures available to support it. The prophecy is a special gift. This is made plain by the scriptures.

Romans 12:6. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith.

It requires a degree of faith to understand prophecy. A person needs to be familiar with ancient history and a willing heart to honestly understand what God is saying through these prophets. In some ways prophecy is a gift.

1Corinthians 12:10. To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to other divers’ kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

1Corinthians 13:2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Paul is saying that the love of God and fellow human being is the most important. It also requires an interest in prophecy and what it can tell us.

1Timothy 4:14 "Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery."

It is a spiritual gift, and one must prepare the mind to receive the information. Prophecy is not a mystic mystery designed to scare the hell out of someone. It is a window into the future and can only be given by God through certain people He chooses. As I said earlier, Jesus was the last prophet. From the time ending the Old Testament writings to the first book of the New Testament is a period of four hundred years of silence from an inspired prophet. It was not until Jesus began to prophesy to His disciples at the Mount of Olives that a word from heaven returns.

Luke 16:16. The law and the prophets were until John: since that time, the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presses into it.

The coming Messiah and the kingdom of God are the main prophecies of the Old Testament. The ancient Jews looked for the Messiah but rejected Him when He came. Jesus began His ministry preaching the Kingdom of God and in the book of Matthew and later through an angel to John in the book of Revelation. He gave the events leading up to His return to establish the Kingdom of God with the saints here on earth. There is a connection between the old and new testaments at these events. The first of these prophecies began in ²Isaiah when the Messiah was prophesied. Later during the time of Daniel, God sent him some details of coming kingdoms and events that would affect his people the Jews.

I would like to start with these prophecies and move forward through a timeline of events created by various prophecies about Jesus and the coming kingdom of God, The Stone Kingdom.

    ² Isiah 9:6-7

    CHAPTER ONE

    The messiah stone

The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. (Genesis 49:10)

This is the first hint of a coming Messiah for the children of Israel. The tribe of Judah was
