    Acknowledgements

First, we give Jesus Christ the praise, honor, and glory for the privilege of partnering with Him in proclaiming His wonderful works in this book. As the Psalmist articulated, "He causes us to remember His wonderful works. How gracious

    and merciful is our LORD!"

    Psalm 111:4 NLT

Then we thank our niece and her family for allowing us to share their tempestuous life and awe-inspiring faith. Thirdly, we are grateful for our friend and sister in Christ Jesus, Margaret Hart, for her generosity in offering edits, invaluable suggestions, and sharing her God-given talent through her inspirational artwork for the front cover. Finally, we thank Trilogy Christian Publishing (TCP), a subsidiary of TBN, for partnering with us on this project along with Ashley Welch, our representative, who has the joyful heart of a servant, Rhonda Webb, our project manager, who gladly responded to all our questions and diligently walked us through the production stages, and the rest of the devoted TCP team members for an exceptionally finished book.

All glory belongs to our LORD, Savior, and Friend, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit for the wisdom and grace bestowed upon us.

    Introduction

Life is like a ladder, full of challenges and risks. A lot of people are challenged to climb, afraid of heights, and some are unwilling to take the next step.

If you are a carpenter like Joe, climbing is a necessity to reach higher in completing some tasks and move onto the next level.

In life, prayer is a necessity, like climbing a ladder. Some are afraid that God will not answer their prayers. They are unwilling to take a step and whole-heartedly surrender their requests to God.

When we pray, we do not climb, but rather we lay down our requests and prayers to God. We wait with expectant faith that He hears us.

Prayer is our ladder to reach heaven.

One of the stories in the Bible that you might have read and know was when Jesus went into the boat with His disciples. A violent storm suddenly came up on the sea. The boat was engulfed by waves, but Jesus was asleep. His disciples woke Him up, saying, Lord, save us! We are perishing!

You of little faith, Jesus replied, why are you so afraid? Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm. (Matthew 8:23-26 BSB)

For those of us who believe in Jesus, we trust in Him to rescue us in every storm of our lives. Jesus heartens us to not be afraid but to have faith. Second Corinthians 5:7 encourages us to walk by faith and not by sight.

In this book, you will find how Maya weathered the storms in her life and how her earnest prayers to God helped her through these blizzards of life.

May David’s attitude on prayer be your inspiration. The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord will answer my prayer…I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray. (Psalm 6:9 and Psalm 17:6 NLT).

You are probably asking if God really listens to your prayers.

Yes, He does! 1 John 5:14 NLT says, And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

The key phrase is according to His will, God hears us.

Sometimes God says no to our prayers, but that does not mean He will not answer our prayers. At times He quickly answers, and sometimes He delays His answers. He knows what is best for us. We must trust Him with all our hearts.

We need to remind ourselves that God is never too late nor too early. We must trust that His timing is perfect.
