About the Author
Preface
The purpose of this book is quite straightforward. It is to help a Christian believer internalize Scripture. If being a Christian means to you what it does to me, then you know the Bible is of extreme significance. It is the Book that God gave humans as a guide to life on earth and a pathway to heaven. There is so much wisdom to be found in the Bible. If you are a believer, you have this wisdom so close at hand. Many of my friends have several different translations of God’s Word, and those of us who own smartphones literally have it in our hand! So, why should we even bother to memorize Scripture? (At this point, I will point out that I have used the word internalize, not memorize, in the title of this book.) On occasion, many Christians, myself included, have memorized some verses of the Scriptures. We have all worked diligently to do this, sometimes to the point that the memorization of the Bible became dreary—and definitely not joyful.
Most of us did manage to get some verses to stick in our minds, at least until the study was over or the special occasion passed. Sadly, as time slipped away, the majority of the memorized Scriptures simply faded away as well.
So what? The Bible is always close at hand—or is it really?
How easy is it to find a verse when you are so frightened your hands are shaking? What about when your eyes are so full of tears from deep sorrow or intense joy you can hardly see straight? In the dead of night, it is very difficult to find a Scripture verse to protect you from a satanic attack.
I hope I have made you aware that you will encounter problematic situations in your life on this earth. But now I am going to suggest a solution. Procure my book and enthusiastically apply the techniques for internalizing at least the Scriptures listed in it, and perhaps more. This will give you a good working arsenal for fighting in the ongoing struggle between God and Satan for the souls of humans.
One last thing: I am using the word internalize to mean to make an integral part of you
! This may be a struggle for some of us, but if that is true for you, then focus on the fact that it is a holy privilege to be able to quote God—that will make it easier!
Introduction
The purpose of this book is to give people Scriptures to use in their daily lives: the mundane, exciting, frustrating, satisfying, sorrowful, and joyous occasions—and everything in between. So, choose what you need when you need it, and remember: It is all the Word of God.
The first several chapters may be read in a flexible order; they are designed
