"Steve has hit another home-run with his new book That Good Part II. This book is a life enhancer. Would you like to enhance your walk with God, your marriage, your relationships, your parenting, your success, your enthusiasm? This book will do just that. Read and meditate on the pages, you will be glad you did.

    -Dr. Kenneth Cox

Thank you for the book. Lori and I have both read it. I read bits and pieces of it all the time and so does Lori. I have gotten some good advice and knowledge from it. This is an excellent book and I am very privileged and happy that I have read it. I still go back and just open a random page or two and read them. If you don’t mind, I would like to pass it to my older brother. I am sure he will enjoy it as much as I have. Everyone that reads it will learn and enjoy it.

"In today’s world, we all need a dose of empowerment, goodwill, and hope. That Good Part by Steve Prouty offers over one hundred and fifty daily one-page passages using references from the Bible, author John C. Maxwell, and former football coach Tony Dungy, amongst other industry leaders to help you get through the day. That Good Part is a self-help guide designed for no matter what you’re facing: from marriage, parenting, and leadership to mentoring, there are anecdotes available to help you. That Good Part by Steve Prouty offers the world of wisdom and encouragement needed as if you’re talking to a friend. Through each one-page passage, the breath of God and His word are intertwined between the pages. It is recommended that you choose a one-page passage in That Good Part and read the same passage in the morning and at night because the recall will assist you in getting the words deep within your soul. Reading That Good Part by Steve Prouty was like a breath of fresh air because of the way the information was written. The various one-page passages indicated that there are others that feel the way I do when faced with life. Telling the story about a relationship with Jesus in an inspirational, motivating, and stimulating fashion, in conjunction with mentoring, drive, and success, helps to create a balance on the subject matter. When God is involved, these elements represent more than words; they represent life and a way in which we should be conscious of achieving and living it. If you are seeking a daily self-help resource to keep you going in the right direction, That Good Part by Steve Prouty is it.

Imagine my surprise when I get this package in the mail and it’s a book that has my friend’s name on the front of it. Excited, I immediately call him, thrilled with blessing of a book and the fact that one of the sincerest readers of Scripture and prayer warriors has his name on the cover, That Good Part. Needless to say, it brings joy and direction with every page that is read. It’s the product of years of daily Bible and book study. This book is one that you have on your bedside table, the one that you pick up when you are having a struggle, need direction or encouragement on different subjects. There are a few things that are special about Steve, he loves the Lord and gleans inspiration from Him and from the Scripture. He is a disciplined disciple of God and an avid prayer warrior, and lastly, he’s my friend. There is good stuff written in the pages of this book because God gives His people the Good Stuff. Romans 8:28- And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God to those who are called according to His purpose."

    -Brooke Melhorn, Longtime Friend

"This book was a fantastic read. Unlike many books where you want to speed through to see what happens–That Good Part, you take in the book little by little to truly appreciate the content. Filled with delightful pearls and insightful passages, That Good Part will re-nurture your soul and make you rethink your daily tasks and goals. It’s condensed chicken soup for the busy soul. Steve gets it by writing with conciseness."

    -Dr. David Wong, O.D.

"That Good Part helped me to find insight and inspiration to grow both personally and professionally when it seemed like there weren’t enough hours in the day to do so. I think this book can help anyone find the impetus they need for continual growth."

    -Kevin Galvez, CTEC Tax Advisor

"Steve’s words in the pages of his book That Good Part are deep and thought provoking. The daily messages are powerful, especially when meditated on. Familiar topics are approached from multiple directions to stimulate appreciation of the better part of life. If you can, read it out loud, or read it twice. Don’t read it just to check it off your list."

-Joseph M. Steele, Retired Marketing Manager, Business Owner, Entrepreneur

Attention: busy people! Take one minute per day to get the nuggets of wisdom that they don’t teach you in school. You’ll soon find That Good Part of your morning is waking up with hope, wisdom, and a better peace of mind.

    Robert Sottosanti, General Manager

That Good Part is the words of Jesus. The story in Luke 10:38-42 illustrates how Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and heard his word while her sister Martha was cumbered about much serving, careful, and troubled about many things.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT IS NEEDFUL?

The one thing that is needful is to daily hear the words of Jesus, the Word of God. His words are SPIRIT and they are LIFE.

    READ ONE PAGE PER DAY

Why only read one page per day? Because anyone who desires to help themselves can do it. One page, like one step establishes a direction.

    HIGHLIGHT

Highlight what stands out to you. Mark the page number in the back of the book for later reference, reminder, and application.

    WHY WRITE A BOOK?

Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter Revelation 1:19. It is my sincere conviction I am to do as this verse instructs.

AND WHAT SHALL I ANSWER WHEN I AM REPROVED?

And the LORD answered me, and said, WRITE the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it’ because it shall surely come, it will not tarry

    About the Author

Someone said, if you don’t know where you’re going, you won’t like where you end up. Well that’s not necessarily true all the time. I’ve learned in whatsoever state I am in therewith to be content. Have you? Well how do you do that, you might say. Who can be content for any length of time? Well, first, you’re in good hands. You do know you’re in good hands, don’t you? If you make the necessary time needed to read, you’ll be fine as you read the Bible and meditate on what you read. You’ll be content, knowing deeper truths necessary for living. Some don’t do this for themselves and must be told by another. Others ignore this altogether and suffer the consequences which could be avoided. God extends his helping hand in many ways to guide and direct us even if we don’t feel we know where we’re going. And with his direction we thoroughly more-than-like where we end up. Even more than we do the planning. But people act like all this is a secret. It’s not a secret. But people wander around like there are no answers in life, when there are books and people God uses to assist…these give the sense. In the world, there are people who walk in darkness with those who walk in the light. The word of help is nigh thee, even in thy mouth. Say the word. Let it sink deep in your ears. The word that came out of the mouth of God and then coming forth from yours will not return unto him void, but it will accomplish that which he pleases. It starts small then flourishes.

If you’re looking for trouble, you’ll find it. If you’re looking for a way out, God will provide it that ye may be able to bear it. But if any man knows what is right and does not do it, to him it is sin. So, what’s the problem? Stop right there, you’re looking at it all wrong. It’s not a problem. You only thought it was. There are no problems. From now on call it something else when anything doesn’t go your way. You’ll come up with something good. But look at what is blowing against you like it’s the wind, and you’re a kite. You can’t fly without the breeze. You can’t gain altitude without the resistance. You got that? Now remember it—here’s how: write it down as a reminder, and find somebody that’s down and out and share this. Its good news. It’s a reminder of the fact that we have faith and look at things differently—very differently. Like Job did. Remember what Job said to his wife when she told him to curse God and die. He said—and this is the bottom line— shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? This is how we think. We are at our best when things look like they are against us. You know what is right, do it. You don’t feel good, do it anyway. Get it done. The apostle Paul did a lot of good and he had a thorn in the flesh, and it was a messenger of Satan sent to buffet him. And God sent the messenger. I’m telling you right now, whatever it is you think is bugging you, it’s okay, it’s okay, it’ll pass, and you’ll be better for it. You’ll grow through it and then you can celebrate your freedom from having a worldly perspective. God has something in mind for you, something new. So, don’t look for trouble, look for good, and you’ll find it. If you need to bear what you’re going through, God will provide a way of escape. Finally, don’t fight against the wind of adversity, use it to gain altitude. God’s grace is sufficient for thee.

It’s always a good idea to keep special notes and material in a place you can remember, for future reference. Like a drawer or a briefcase. Which reminds me of the time I had just had a meeting with someone and set my briefcase down which had all my notes in it, I forgot where I had set it, and backed my car right over it in front of my new friend. What a product demonstration. Well the case was okay and so were my notes and my friend. So now I keep my notes in a safer place. And I added many more notes. Some thoughts are the sort that we need to read them over and over before they take effect on us. When I first read Og Mandino’s The Greatest Miracle in the World , I had to do something special. In the book was ‘The God Memorandum’ which was to be read 100 nights in a row. It took me 45 minutes to read it once so I recorded it and listened to it each day. My wife, Jackie, didn’t have this challenge. She’s like my daughter Lindsay. When they read its da-da-da done. But where there’s a will, there’s a way. We got through the book. The point of the reading one message 100 days in a row was to get it to sink in. Do you let things sink in? When you sit with particular individuals it’s natural to pause and listen and experience and hear things you never witnessed before. Jesus said, where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Some things are meant to be absorbed, and if you keep your mind on it, you become new. You have another heart. Then when you go about your business, you notice certain things more, other things less. It’s a choice we make every day. We can be bothered about routines or choose that Good part, which shall not be taken away from you.

It’s real easy to touch bases with someone you know. You can pick up the phone and call them, drive over and see them, or now days there are a variety of other methods to use to get through to them. But what if that person you want to get through to is you? You know, maybe there’s something you just want to always remember. Something you heard at church, or from a friend, in a book or a cd. Well you’ve heard of affirmations or mission statements. The fact of the matter is once you begin using this method of getting guidance and applied belief, your declarations and written confessions change as you change. So, change them. Rewrite them. I stopped saying daily, an affirmation I’ve been using for 15years because things in my life have recently improved. So, write another future for yourself, prophecy. That’s what we self-fulfilling prophets do. And read it every day until you change some more and so on and on you grow. Now, sometimes we can’t get through to others because they’ve passed on and we didn’t know it. When I did telemarketing years ago, I learned by chance, a chance in a million, that a good friend that lived in Hawaii with me had died. Lee was my only friend that would be able to relate with me on experiences we had that no one else could understand. And I had lost touch with him, and now a complete stranger on the computer phone both new my name and Lee’s and he was telling me Lee was gone. So, when my son Logan was born, I gave him the middle name of Lee, in memory of my dear friend I couldn’t get through to anymore. Now here’s an interesting question, is someone trying to get through to you? Or, have they already contacted you and something they are saying to you has just not gotten through? No worries, sounds like you just might be a part of someone’s mission statement. It’s all good!

Do you dream? I do. In fact, when I was growing up I used to have nightmares so bad, my dad would have to walk me around to wake me up. There are many accounts in the Bible where God used dreams to communicate with men. So really, dreams are not so unusual. If God is using dreams to say something to you, He makes his message very clear. Maybe 10 years ago I dreamed a dream: Jackie, my wife, was driving, I sat next to her and my kids, Lindsay and Logan were in the backseat. We were in the mountains and around a curve we went through the railing and over the edge. Okay, this is still a dream, right? I saw the ground below and said I love you to each of my family, and just before we hit, we gently landed on the ground, and I said, that’s it? Then suddenly we
