    Foreword

I once read about some old gentlemen discussing the subject of death. After several minutes of each sharing their thoughts about it, one old gentleman said: If I could know when and where I was going to die, I would never go near that place. Man’s greatest fear and enemy has been and is death. To many, death is the dreaded end to one’s life on this earth. It strikes fear into the hearts of the strongest and bravest of mankind.

When I was a young child raised in the country there was a popular game we would play called Hide And Seek. It is a simple game where there could be as many players as you wanted. One person would be the seeker and the others would be the "hiders. The idea was for the hiders to hide in a place where the seeker couldn’t find them after counting to a certain number. If the hiders could elude detection and make it back to the base before the seeker could tag them, they were safe.

Death is not like that because no one can hide and elude death. It is certain and almost always comes at the least expected time. It knows no age limits, social status, or one’s gender.

This book will show out of God’s Word what death and judgment has in store for every human being, both saved and lost. Every child of God’s desire should be to win the lost to Christ. A dear friend of mine, long time missionary Bro. Bob Smith and his team, distributes millions of Gospel Tracts and other types of Gospel materials in South Texas every month. He has this saying: "We are arresting souls on their way to Hell.

My prayer is that this little book will help you to understand what death and judgment is all about and be faithful to be a light to the lost and an encouragement to all believers.

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

    The Reality of Death

The reality of death began with Adam and has continued through six thousand years of human history. Men do not like to think about that dreadful moment when they must face death, but death claims each life. Death does not take into account whether we have been profitable or not to society. Every step that we take brings us nearer to the grave.

The Bible contains many warnings about death, speaking as frequently on this subject as it does about any other. In the Garden Of Eden, where death had never entered, Adam and Eve were instructed by God to refrain from the forbidden fruit with the dire warning:

Genesis 2:17 In the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

We know that they ate the forbidden fruit; and at that very moment the judgment of God was passed upon them and their bodies began the process of dying.

Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

The writers of the Bible did not hesitate to declare that death is certain. Noah preached righteousness and the judgment of God. He warned men that if they would not repent, the Lord would destroy them from the face of the earth.

Genesis 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Men failed to believe Noah’s preaching and as a result God struck the whole earth with a great flood. The Bible states that the waters prevailed for forty days on the earth until every hill was covered.

Genesis 7:21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and
