    1. Madam Erle Causes Chaos

Dad, let’s go fishing on the pier near the river, asked Billy.

Great idea, let me finish my cup of tea then we will get some bait and walk to the pier, he replied.

While his dad finished his tea, Billy got the rods, had them ready and started waiting for when his dad came out of the caravan. The Wilson family were away for the first week of the school holidays; they had been camping at a popular beach. Billy, 11 years old, and Megan at 13 years old had enjoyed the warm lazy days, running on the sand and swimming in the surf. They had even been fishing in the river, beside the camping ground that flowed gently into the sea. This beach holiday each year was a family favourite; the children had made lots of friends in the holiday park.

I like the trampolines, water slides and playing table tennis games at the camp, Megan told her school friends.

You are lucky going camping, replied one of the girls.

Megan continued, Our family always joins in the park’s social activities like barbeques and fancy dress nights; it is so much fun.

While away, Billy whispered to Megan, I miss going to the little village with all our wee friends. Megan smiled and nodded, not wanting anyone to hear. Billy also thought when he returned home that he would scrounge around in the shed, looking for the journal that he knew might tell him more about the wee people and what his ancestors knew.

The couple of weeks away seemed to go faster than Billy expected. He was able to look on his iPad and keep up with some news of the village on Alfred’s Fresh News blog.

Once the family arrived back home, Lionel, Billy’s best friend who lived next door, came over to see him.

I’m so glad you are back, he said as he welcomed Billy home. He really was grateful that the Wilsons were back as it was lonely without Billy.

I am pleased to be back, replied Billy. We have had a great holiday but I am keen to be home. We share many secrets and some adventures with Alfred; the fun at the cooking school and the wee folk’s village hidden near the creek.

It will be good to catch up with all of them again, continued Lionel.

Sophie, the Wilson’s dog, had been in the kennels while the family were away. She was glad they were all home now; she jumped on Lionel and barked with joy. Billy and Lionel had lots to talk about, especially the many secrets they kept from their parents. Lionel had shared the cooking classes in the fairy village; he now was keen to accompany Billy to the secret village for more adventures.

Let’s contact Alfred again now and tell him you are back, suggested Lionel.

I will text him and see if we can come to the village tomorrow, said Billy.

We could arrange to go tomorrow when he finishes his work.

Megan saw the boys talking outside, she came over and whispered, When can we go to see Alfred again?

The boys grinned. Funny, we were just talking about this, said Lionel. Billy then texted Alfred, asking him to meet them the following afternoon about 4 pm.

I cannot go with you tomorrow, I am playing basketball, said Megan. They knew Billy’s parents would go with Megan and do some shopping so they would not be missed if they went to the village.

The next afternoon was a fine sunny day. Billy and Lionel took the opportunity to walk over the paddock. They loved the bush, all the animals and birds. Together they chatted as they walked past the huge
