Sci-fi Si
I have been scribbling science fiction ever since I was about 13 years old. My love affair with sci-fi began when Star Trek was first broadcast on British TV in 1969 (when I was eight years old). From the very first episode, I was captivated by the idea of a group of people heading out into interstellar space in an amazing hi-tech ship, visiting new worlds and meeting all kinds of weird and wonderful aliens. Throughout my life I have been fascinated by the themes and preoccupations of science fiction. Hence this book.
I love sci-fi for two main reasons. First, it’s escapism. In some people’s opinion, escapism is a bad thing. They think people use it to irresponsibly flee from reality.
I beg to differ. I think everyone needs escapism, because, let’s face it, for most of us, everyday life can be stressful, or boring – or possibly both. Escapism enables you to forget about your troubles and pressures for a little while, and then return to your reality
