Introduction
Hello, My Name is Heidi is a book that offers up some tongue-in-cheek insight into what a boxer puppy had to go through to train her human companion. This provides some very entertaining insight into a dog’s life as seen through the eyes of a boxer puppy.
Move over Garfield, Heidi is the new kid on the block. She is quite demanding at times with her human companion, Randy. Heidi has made it a labor of love to train Randy to anticipate her every need, and her needs are many. More often than not life in their household became a war of willpowers.
All of the incidents in this book are real; it’s really how one perceives the situation as to whether it becomes humorous. It has been said that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and humor is also in the eyes of the beholder. It’s important to try and put a humorous frame around the events in our lives to make life more bearable for us.
If you have ever wondered what is going on in your dog’s mind, this book should offer you some tongue-in-cheek answers to this question. It has been reported that most dogs mature to the same approximate level as a three-year-old child. This gives you an idea of what you are up against in raising dogs, as well as children. By age three children are talking and dogs are not, but don’t write them off yet. Dogs have developed their ways of communicating their needs, wants and feelings.
Heidi is a good example of how dogs can develop an advanced form of communication. We have this human delusion that we train our dogs to respond to our commands. Or, are we trained by our dogs to reward them for their good behavior? Some days it feels like a fine line between who is trained and who is really the trainer.
