What The Skies Told Me - Cindy Placide
(1)
Claws of Depression
(1)
In full annoyance, I huffed and I wailed
But my words were instantly derailed
I screamed and I cringed
But my jaws uncooperatively became rigid
(2)
What is this insolence that my soul renders?
It’s aim is to have me surrender
To this battle raging inside my being
That gives this depression new meaning
(3)
Like unquenchable flames burning in fire
My sanity hangs on the wire
Where is the balance I seek to find?
I’m looking for solutions of any kind
(4)
The gutters at home in my head are muddy
Visions of what is to be seen are cloudy
Will clear waters spring up from my brain
To grace my sapped spirit with peace once again?
(5)
I bellowed to the voices in my head
But they gazed in the mirror and laughed at me instead
Why won’t they allow this vessel a Shining Light?
Like evil, the torments are day and night
(6)
Lost in the dark spaces in my mind
Are lawless memories so unkind
Like the 10 plagues in the Exodus era
These unjust enemies hold dominion and power
(7)
Crouched in my darkened secret place
With my knees lending the only desired embrace
Is where my soul wishes to nestle
Giving the emotions permission to build empty castles
(8)
Depression, you’ve vowed to claim me your prize
Anxieties, you wish to laud over my demise
Suicidal thoughts raise like sea levels from broken glaciers
Yet I’m determined never to own them as my masters.

Note To The Forces
(1)
You are the Heartbeat
That didn’t let my heart beat
You are the Sunshine
That didn’t let my Sun shine
You are the Wind Gust
That didn’t allow my wind to blow
You’re the Force that cripples
Everything my heart knows
(2)
You’re the lingering Stormy Rains
Lending to my life many rainstorms
You’re the Waves of the Sea
That calms every wave in my sea
You’re the busy Landslides
That causes many lots in my heart to slide
You’re the very Thing
That causes me confusion inside
(3)
You’re the breathtaking Flowers in my Spring
That takes my breath away like a diamond ring
You’re like the Falling
