Chapter 01
Rule and composition
Utilizing your grid
I'll show you how to use your grid now that you have one. The grid has given us the rule of thirds, one of the few laws in photography.
There are a lot of guidelines you can receive from placing your grid, and while they are not rules, they can assist you in discovering the main point. This technology is fantastic and underutilized; by using it every time you snap a mobile phone shot, you will see a significant improvement in your photography.
Consider your shot before taking it.
Always pause to consider your shot before taking it. Not thinking before you fire has two consequences:
› You won't get the picture,
› You'll overshoot, which will make it extremely expensive.
Many individuals snap several photos hoping to capture a nice one, but this strategy is ineffective since there will be too many photos to comb through. That indicates that if you take a shot without thinking, it won't be good.
You'll be motivated to consider your composition when snapping pictures because the grid and rule of thirds are available on your phone.
Take into account if the thing you are capturing is flat or tall. Before you begin, use this to align your camera correctly.
Shoot your subject vertically if it is tall.
Due to the height and vertical nature of the man in the photo below, the smartphone camera had to be standing to catch him, as shown in the image below.
The images are stunning since they were taken vertically with the tall palm palms below.
- If your subject is flat, take a horizontal shot of it.
Since the hippopotamus is flat, the photo must be taken horizontally because it can never be vertical.
Your image's most significant focal points will be found where your rule of thirds lines intersect.
You must select one option from each image.
