Individuals Matter
Position #1:
Bosses use, overlook and discredit individuals. They are focused on how to bring success to the organization, so they selfishly benefit. Bosses primarily seek to rule and control individuals and situations.
Leaders value the team members and expect the talent to enable the desired outcome — the individual and all that is important to those individuals matters to the leader. Your team wil do their best when they know you recognize and appreciate them individually for who they are total.
I have the privilege of getting to know some fascinating people with complex stories. We share our experiences, thoughts and collaborate on a design. We appreciate our unique qualities.
No one is denied because the sum of our experience is the currency supporting our future joint ventures. It is safe to share lessons and practices learned due to the environments in which we grew up. It all counts — our education, faith practices, recreation, vacations, and prior work assignments. Does your culture give each person the freedom to express their authenticity? Is everyone encouraged to become better people, create better products and services, and build more substantial businesses?"
The freedom of experience starts with respect for one another and openness to have biases challenged or, better yet, dispel ed. Oxford Languages dictionary defines 'bias' as "a prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be

unfair." Tucking away or denying biases is wasteful and negligent. Once you acknowledge that you have biases, you learn what they are when situations trigger your biases to activate. Every human desire is to be understood and accepted. Open the door to gain respect for the members of your team. Everyone exists for a purpose. Wil you confirm and support your biases by continuing in the same behavior or overcoming your biases by exploring more to silence your biases?
Investigate the root cause of your biases, the application, and its implication to your current relationships. Choosing a go-forward response is not always easy. You may encounter pain, hurt, and shamefulness as you become more aware of your bias. Beating yourself up for having a tendency is not the objective. Recognizing the bias exists and committing to facing it head-on to manage it is an appropriate
