When my wife and I decided to get married in December 2000, our purpose was solely driven by fear and uncertainty of the future and the end times. We were influenced by the Y2K conspiracy theory and extreme prophetic teachings that foretold chaos and unrest with the dawn of the new millennium. Our decision was motivated by a fear of not being aligned with God’s will and the possibility of not attaining eternal salvation.

However, as we continued to foster our relationship, we realized that our marriage had the potential to be so much more than just a result of fear and panic, and discovered the transformative power of Divine Synergy.

Through this realization, we were able to re-evaluate our purpose for getting married and renewed our commitment to building a purposeful union that honors and glorifies God. We recognized that love, trust, and a shared sense of purpose were vital ingredients to a thriving marriage.

We realized love’s importance in our marriage, notwithstanding, we also discovered that without a clear understanding of the Divine purpose of our marriage, we would not achieve our marital destiny. As per the biblical account, man and woman were created in the image of God, and from the very beginning, the Creator foresaw that marriage would be humanity's greatest need and most important relationship. Remarkably, it was the final touch in the culmination of the creation process, underscoring its profound significance.

Let us take a moment to reflect on the importance of marriage, as it was the Creator's final act in the seven-day creation cycle, before resting on the seventh day. This deliberate order echoes God's profound importance and value on marriage, highlighting it as an integral part of His divine plan. Christ is described as the groom and the Church as the bride in the Bible, illustrating the intimate relationship between God and His people. In Ephesians 5:25-27, it says, Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. This passage shows that a husband's love and sacrifice for his wife; reflect the love and sacrifice that Christ had for the Church. This is because, in marriage, a husband and wife are united in a covenant relationship that reflects the covenant relationship between Christ and His Church.

Additionally, just as the Church submits to Christ, a wife must submit to her husband (Ephesians 5:22-24). This submission is not a sign of weakness or inferiority but a reflection of the Church's submission to Christ. By submitting to their husbands, wives express their love and trust in their husband's leadership, just as the Church trusts and submits to Christ's leadership.

Just as Christ is faithful to the Church, a husband, and wife are called to be faithful to each other. This means staying committed to the covenant relationship and being loyal to one another.
