Chapter 1: Dissatisfaction with the Numbers

Dan stared at the rows of spreadsheets on his computer screen, the numbers blurring together as if mocking him. It had been five years since he graduated with an accounting degree, and he had landed a stable job at a well-established accounting firm. But as the days turned into years, he couldn't shake the feeling that this was not what he had envisioned for his life.

His days were spent analyzing financial data, preparing tax reports, and dealing with clients who seemed more interested in saving money than building a meaningful relationship with their accountant. The monotony of his work had become unbearable, and he felt like a cog in a corporate machine.

One gloomy afternoon, during his lunch break, Dan decided to escape the suffocating walls of his office and take a walk outside. As he wandered aimlessly down the streets, he overheard a conversation from a nearby cafe. People were talking about something called the metaverse. The term was foreign to him, but it sounded intriguing and futuristic.
