CLOSE CALL
The last sweaty, sticky, sweltering days of summer were coming to an end, Labor Day was a week away. The forecast was calling for one more week of blistering heat before a break comes mid-September.
I was already missing my younger brother, who was in his first year of college, 300 miles away. So, I wasn’t surprised when he called and asked me to come down for the holiday weekend. He was missing me too! It’s his first time away from home. He and his friends were throwing the last bash of the summer. Was probably going to be my last time seeing him before the end of the year holidays. A nice drive out of town for the threeday weekend sounds pretty good. I was in!
