Iloathed the amusement arcades. They were sweaty, crowded hellholes with worn carpets that reeked of stale urine and spilled coffee. Worst of all, they housed thousands of slot machines. Their dizzying light-shows were enough to induce epileptic seizures, and then there was the noise; a constant and inescapable high-pitched electronic chatter that wafted for miles on the sea breeze and penetrated every forgotten corner of the town. During the summer months, when the arcades stayed open late to cater to entertainment-starved grockles, the chatter was so pervasive it somehow bled into your dreams.
