Magic Box. Tricks and illusions! - Tom Jackson
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the world of magic! Soon, you’ll be dazzling your friends and family with some great tricks.
To get you started, the box has some playing cards and illusions for you to try. All the other tricks in the book can be performed with everyday items you’ll find at home. Sometimes you may need a pen or pencil, too.
But first there are a few things every magician needs to know. To begin with, never tell anyone how you do a trick. It’ll be much more fun for everyone if the audience can’t work out how you did it.
Just tell them that it’s magic. Next, make the most of your audience’s amazement. While everyone is still dazzled by your last trick, move on to the next one – keep the magic coming!
The greatest magicians must practise and prepare. All the tricks in this book are easy to learn, but some of them will need a bit of practice before you can do them well. Other tricks need to be set up before you start.
Try doing all the tricks and then choose some favourites for your first show. Now you must learn a little showmanship – the art of putting on a show. Think about what you’re going to say for each trick. Finally, every magician needs a magic word. What’s yours?
VANISHING COIN
How can you make a coin disappear? Well, you could spend it, of course, but here’s a way that’s much more fun.
YOU WILL NEED
♦ A coin
♦ A glass
♦ 2 large sheets of white paper
♦ Glue
♦ Scissors
♦ A sheet of coloured paper
1. Make a paper lid for the glass. Draw around the upturned glass on the first piece of white paper to make a circle. Cut out the circle and glue it to the top of the glass. The paper should not stick out from the rim.
2.
