About this ebook
Limericks are a style of poetry developed in England from the early 18th century. They are often skilfully constructed verses, typically humorous or nonsense poems and generally have a five-line meter with a very strict rhyming pattern. In the 19th century, the writer and poet Edward Lear popularised the limerick with his Book of Nonsense. In that period it was customary for a limerick to accompany a comical sketch or drawing on a similar subject.
Following the success of ‘A Pocket Full Of Limericks and ‘Another Pocket Full Of Limericks’ the present book is presented as a fully illustrated version to enhance the fun, in an ongoing series of limericks and nonsense poems for children and adults. Further illustrated books are anticipated in various genres.
