PREFACE
God gave me this title: Pastoral/Leadership/Christian Hidden Traps in the Ministry during the time of persecution in the ministry. This book must be read by any leader either at home, work, but especially in the Ministry. You must read this book before you say I do
and plunge into the ministry.
Christian leaders, business leaders or Head of families (Husband), should be conscious of the fact that the plan of the enemy is to bring people down. He is into the business of destroying lives, homes and ministries.
Satan is an expert in setting traps. He set them in order to catch ministers whose desire is to serve God. Since he knows that men and women of God will do everything possible to avoid his traps, he therefore uses the hidden traps to lure them to do his will. God wants our standard to be higher than the world.
The Bible I read at the age of six has not changed, so why should we live a different life today. Why are men and women of God, including Christians, Parents, and Principals, lowering the high standard set by God?
We must note that this book is not only for Pastors and leaders in the Church, but also for every believer whom God calls the head and not the tail. Most Christians are leaders in the secular world and at home; however the principle of God should be applied in all area whether at home or the church.
The work of the ministry has become more challeng-ing today. Many go into it with a clean heart and a willingness to serve and obey God only to find out that they are off track.
An article was sent to me by a Pastor recently about reasons why Pastors quit too soon. Over 1,700 Pastors leave the ministry every month according to statistics. I believe this is in the USA; although 4000 new churches begin each year. We will address some of the reasons they quit in the following pages. Some of the reasons they quit are as follows:
• Discouragement
• Failure
• Loneliness
• Moral Failure
• Financial Pressure
• Anger
• Burnout
• Physical Health
• Marriage/Family Problems
• Too Busy/Driven
Please relax and enjoy this Holy Spirit inspired book.
The purpose of ministry is to express elements of
God’s character through human hands and lips.
CHAPTER ONE
THE HIDDEN TRAP OF PRIDE
The fact is that most Pastors did not start their ministries for self serving or egotistical reasons. In fact almost all the Pastors began their ministries with humility. They started from a shelter, a living room, school class room, or even in a hotel room with two, five, or more families. They had no musical equip-ment, except the natural gift from God – the hand clap. Before you know it, as you continue to abide in God, you are wining souls, caring for the people, and sharing the love of God with everyone; and people are applauding you, something then stirs up in you with a feeling of importance. Pride becomes a factor.
Pastors and ministry leaders are peculiar. They are willing to sacrifice everything, careers, possessions, family, friends, and a normal life, all to pursue the calling that God has placed in their hearts. This calling, this passion, flows through their veins with every beat of their hearts, increasing their longing to reach the goal.
When hard times come, they press on instead of giving up. When good times are upon them, they give all of the honor and glory to God Almighty rather than themselves.
Their lives are full of faith and perseverance. However, as time passes and the attention shifts from excitement for the vision to more mundane things, many leaders begin to change their character, forgetting past perspectives and trading them for more seasoned
ideas about ministry life. These ideas are sometimes borrowed from other leaders. Sometimes, they come as a result of the hardships that ministers have endured to keep their vision alive. Other times, these ways of thought are misperceptions and a lack of alertness, causing them to fall into errant ways that form the perfect breeding ground
