Storming the Rear - Joss Brighton

Morning arrived at our Outer Banks vacation home with strong winds and foreboding off-shore clouds.  The loud ocean waves of last night had turned downright angry this morning.  The hurricane we were keeping tabs on since we arrived yesterday had gotten closer overnight.  Rachel, her husband, Aaron, and I were hoping for a relaxing week here, with some beach time, hot tubbing, good meals, and hanging out together.  I wasn’t so sure we’d get a whole week here, or even a few more days.

Last night, Rachel had fallen asleep in the hot tub after a long day of travel and a few cocktails.  That left Aaron and I alone, in what I had feared would be utter awkward silence.  We weren’t friends and only spent time together because of Rachel, my best friend since junior high school.  Aaron tolerated my existence, but not much more.  Beyond courteous pleasantries, we rarely spoke directly to each other. But something changed last night when we were alone.

It had not been quite 12 hours since my incident in the hot tub with Aaron.  I had replayed every second of it in my head a few times already this morning.  How did that happen between two people who barely talked to each other?  Aaron said more words to me in the heat of our passionate moment than he’d said in the previous few months.  And those words were sexy and dirty.  I’d never been talked to in that way nor had that kind of contact with a man before.  Aside from watching a little bit of man-on-man porn, it wasn’t a world I spent much time in.  I hadn’t even fantasized about it.  Was Aaron secretly gay?  Was I?  Were we bi?  Was Aaron OK with cheating on his wife with me?  Is this something he’d done before?  He was generally a very confident person and that confidence was shown in spades in the hot tub.  Was this going to change our relationship?  Would things get easier between us or more awkward and strained?  And what about Rachel?  Do I tell her what happened between Aaron and me?

I’d gone to bed after Aaron did and managed to squeak out a minor bit of relief before falling asleep.  Both only took a few minutes.  He’d completely exhausted me.  I felt so satisfied, though.  It was different than the sex I’d had with girls.  It felt like I’d crossed an invisible line into new territory.  I wasn’t sure how to deal with all of this yet.

I was pretty sure before last night that I was not gay or bi. I’d read somewhere that everyone falls somewhere on a spectrum between fully straight and
