Kyle walked into the hallways of Danton High School, feeling an aura of mystery and unease. He had moved to the small midwestern town only two weeks ago, and already he sensed something strange about the place. Everyone was silent and unnaturally solemn as if they were living in a dream. He glanced around in confusion at the other students, who seemed much older than him.
HIS MOTHER HAD INSISTED on moving here, and he had reluctantly complied. It was a town of only three thousand people, and the school only had around two hundred students and fifteen teachers, so the atmosphere was always quite somber. The buildings were old and decaying, but there was something comforting about them, something that made him feel as if he belonged there.
HE TRIED TO FOCUS ON his classes, but he couldn't ignore the sense of mystery that seemed to hang in the air. No one seemed to talk about their families or where
