A Short/ Comprehensive Guide

For the Reader
Hello there!
I hope this message finds you well, and if not, then hopefully in the past perfect progressive state of being. That was a tense joke, and I promise it's much better explained in the book you've just purchased!
First off, allow me to express my sincere gratitude for choosing my book, Master English Tenses
. Your decision to delve into this comprehensive guide to English tenses tells me a lot about your zeal to conquer English language's time-traveling aspect. Yes, you read that right. Each tense is a unique time machine, and you're the adventurous time traveler. How exciting is that?
You're not just choosing a book; you're deciding to understand how English speaks in time, seeing how verbs play, rewind, and fast-forward with words. You've opted to leap into a world where 'had been running', 'has run', and 'will have been running' are not just phrases but stories that unfold in different temporal contexts.
Your journey with Master English Tenses
will also let you practice these tenses in real-life scenarios through a series of thoughtfully curated texts. So, don't just read; speak, write, make mistakes, and learn from them. That's the best way to master anything, after all.
So, thank you for joining me in this journey through the winding paths of past, present, and future tenses. I'm excited for the great strides you'll make in understanding, speaking, and writing English more proficiently.
Keep on verb-ing in every tense, and remember, no matter how tense your day gets, at least you're not a verb!
With warmest regards,
Pantelis Giamouridis

C. Usage
PRESENT SIMPLE:
This tense is used to describe actions or situations that are habitual, regular, or always true. It is also used for things that are generally true, and for schedules or timetables. Be extra careful because the present simple is formed by adding -s

● The sun rises in the east.
PRESENT CONTINUOUS:
This tense is used to describe actions or situations that are happening now, at or around the moment of speaking. It can also be used to describe actions or situations that are temporary, in progress or planned for the future. The present continuous is formed by using the verb to be

Examples:
● I am eating breakfast right now.
● She is speaking Spanish with her friend.
● The sun is setting in the west.
● I am visiting New York on Sunday
