Kevin Bates

Kevin Bates was born in Beaumont, Texas and currently resides in Houston, TX. A devoted reader and writer; each day is spent wandering in the world or words. As a kid, his mother brought him into this world of words. "She would read with her sweet angelic voice taking me so far away doing things I never done before Living the adventures of the people she read about. Soon afterward when I asked her to read another, she would tell me to pick a book off the shelf & to read it myself." Through reading, Kevin learned early that words are powerful when shared correctly through speech or in print. His mission is to share his message with you. "So, we all can come to a common understanding throughout the world and to be your brother under God."

    About the Author

    Thanks & Dedication

My thanks go to the Almighty God, who has given me the gift of words, life, and happiness to share his greatness with others. Thank you God for the great Gifts of Life, my family and friends, who make me stronger in my faith. Thank you, Jesus Christ who died for our sins so we would be better people. Thank you Apostle David Roberson and Prophetess Wanda Roberson of the Empowerment Center for being great leaders and teachers in the word of God while helping me to walk in faith daily and stay on the path my mother and grandmother put me on.

I give a shout out to the music of the 60’s and 70’s that kept so many people together, singing and dancing while at the same time imparting a strong message. Thank you, Sly and the Family Stone, Sam Cook, O’Jays, Al Green, Bill Withers, Isley Brother, Temptations, Isaac Hayes, Last Poets, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and so many more. Love you all!

Lastly, I want to give a huge thanks to my family. The queen, my beautiful mother, Mary Bates. Her love sustains us. The oldest of the siblings, The Sheriff, Karen Barnes. She kept order when my mother was away, cooked for us, made sure we did our school
