    Part 1

    SALVATION OF THE SOUL

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none

other name under heaven given among men, whereby

we must be saved. -Acts 4:12 King James Version

Without salvation in a soul, the soul would be without hope and without life. What is a soul? This is the part of a human being that will live on after the death of the body. There are two places that will hold the entire race of humanity once death has occurred, Heaven and Hell. This isn’t a popular doctrine today but as the Bible teaches us, we should love in deed and truth. If I didn’t speak the truth that could change your life forever through Jesus, then I wouldn’t be loving you as I should.

Now that we know what a soul is, what is salvation? Salvation is deliverance of the soul from sin. What is sin? Sin is anything that goes against what God wants or what His word says. How can you have salvation that is able to deliver you from sin and Hell? I usually tell people at church that it’s as easy as ABC.

•A is Ask. Ask Jesus to save your soul. Ask Him to forgive you of any sin in your life.

•B is Believe. Believe that Jesus died for you on the cross and that He arose from the dead to save your soul. Believe that He will forgive you and save you.

•C is Confess. Confess that Jesus saved you. Tell someone what Jesus did for you.

Do you know what Jesus will do for you if you do this from your heart? He will save your soul and give you this salvation of the soul. In the chapters ahead, you will read of how individuals were saved from their sin and received salvation from Jesus Christ.

Some of you reading this might be thinking, we know all of this. Why spell it out like you are? I think at times we as Christians think that everyone knows what we know. The fact is, everyone doesn’t. This is as simple as a little child can understand and everyone needs to know and understand how to be saved.

    Chapter 1

    DAVID

"The Lord knew what He was doing… I

needed something steady in my life."

How can something be rescued from brokenness? Perhaps

a better question is how can someone be rescued from

brokenness? Life can break us apart and leave us for dead

if we allow it to. David was in situations that could have

destroyed him. Did that happen? Read and find out.

Broken family, that’s what you call it, right? Up until about age 10, my childhood was good. By my twelfth birthday, my parents were married to each other and divorced from each other two different times. It’s tough trying to figure these things out when you’re 12. My name is David and I wanted stability.

Once this happened, I lived with my dad in Louisa, Kentucky. My mom moved in with her parents at West Liberty, Kentucky. I had wonderful grandparents. They were perfect in my eyes. While my mom was staying with them, I could see Mom on most weekends. This didn’t last when Mom decided to move to Texas with her boyfriend. I didn’t see her at all after that for almost a year. That made things difficult because all my dad and I would do was fight.

When a year or so passed, I started having an opinion of my own. Dad didn’t like when other people had opinions of their own, so that’s probably why he ended up being married eight times. Like all dads, mine was good in some areas and not so good in others.

The summer before my freshman year of high school I got drunk for the first time. Then early that school year, I smoked pot for the first time. These two became my new favorite things to do. Probably the only thing that kept me sane during this time was playing the guitar. Even through all of this, somehow I still managed to mostly make decent grades in school.

Some of the things I’ve said or will be saying in this testimony, I’ve had to think about whether or not to share them. There are details that are embarrassing, and there are things that a lot of people may not know. It’s all true, and hopefully it will help someone.

One of the best things that could’ve ever happened to me happened. My junior year of
