About this ebook

Several years I left Byron for a trip around the world, to see and explore the many places

that had a special appeal at various phases of my life.

In some ways this was a pilgrimage, seeking sources of the modern Australian identity,

including the Burma Railway and Gallipoli, embracing the genesis of our culture

and

John Stuart

John Stuart was born and raised in the Rainbow Region near Byron Bay,on the Australian East Coast. He has spent most of his working life there, renovating property, playing sport, exploring paths and byways. In later years there was a collapse and transformation, from which came the sharing series. This book defines a distint emergencefrom within to without.Selections from this material have been presented on ABC and Commercial radio,in restaurants, pubs and on retreats in this region. This was very well received. The Gallipoli sequence featured here formed the basis for a video, Coming Home, used by the Turkish Embassy in Canberra on Commemorative occasions.

    Whispering Wonders - John Stuart

In the spiralling spirit of nuclear nebulae,

are the squashed guts of fallen fruit fly,

in all the ugliness and despair

is the purity of purest air,

in the emptiness of being there,

is all the fullness of being here,

    beauty, beauty, beauty.

    artart

All is becoming in constant motion,

    infinite patterns, ideas and notions,

    the universe complete, immutable,

    eternal, constant, irrefutable.

And on this Earth, a grain of dust,

we live and die, as so we must,

    endings beginning in the truth,

all is balanced in the absolute,

    everything there within the mind,

all that has been to seek and find,

the passing present, now, what’s real,

to learn, to love, to fully feel.

    artart

Come with me for transforming grace,

    the sweetly serene,

    open space,

all truths telling in the final scenes,

    the whispering wonder

    of beauty’s dreams.

    artart

    In that we share,

    living here,

    needing here, feeling this,

    being here, being that

    in that we share.

    artart

    spirit

    Open

    Innocence quietly wondering

whats and whys, seas and skies,

    tides times mysteriously flowing,

    creaturing birds and beings,

    whilst essence softly seeks itself.

    A home temple in Bali

    In Bali

    Visiting a family temple,

    walking upwards

to the sound of bells and drums,

    winding steps continuing, opening onto

    a rectangular platform.

    The focus, an altar,

    a table, draped

    in brightly coloured cloth,

    yellow and green,

    covered with offerings,

    bowls of food and water

    and flowering blossoms,

    nature’s blessings.

    Facing this,

    in the centre,

five women, all in a row,

    chanting unevenly.

    Behind them

    one male, also seated,

    a benevolent presence,

    quietly controlling proceedings.

    To one side,

    a shrine, formally simple,

    festooned in abundance,

    further offerings

    of fruit and flowers,

    with incense burning gently.

    Observing all

    with light fascination,

    some tourists, a mixed batch

    of colours and creeds.

    Watching family groups,

    mainly women and children,

    richly attired in festive mode,

    comfortably familiar,

    but attentive, respectful.
