About this ebook

Charlie is a millionaire.  But since a gruesome accident his life has went to hell.  Unfortunately money hasn't bought him happiness and the only thing that has helped him overcome his crippling depression is his best friend Bob.

Charlie needs more in life.  The sleepy city of Wolfinshire is just too mundane.  He searches through historic records in hopes of discovering the unseen magic he knows is out there in the world.  Then he discovers an ancient secret society that initiates people on rare blood moons; that has been around since the viking era.  He knows about them and now they know about him too.  He willingly signs up to a contest that will bring a great treasure.

This is a game where many winners gain the ultimate freedom, it just depends on if you get to live long enough to enjoy it. In Charlie's case he will gain the one thing his soul craves the most.  But can he live with the fact that Bob got entered into the contest accidently too? Charlie loves his best friend but would Bob sacrifice everything for him? He will have to decide if his friendship is worth his place in the secret society or not.  Either way the dead bodies are piling up.

L isten the wardrobe is barely big enough for me.  You’re too big.  Go find another place to hide.  I got here first. The cranky voice said in almost a murmur to the other figure that was not moving.

I can’t.  You know this.  There isn’t enough time.  The Beast is looking for us already.  I heard the clock chime, the chase has begun.  The other voice was panicky and spoke in the faintest whisper to the other person who checked his glow watch cautiously; holding the watch in the cup of his hand to his face to hide the light.

Don’t do that again.  Are you trying to kill us?  That light is a dead giveaway.  There is only one survivor in this remember?  And I don’t want to die over a watch.  The panicked voice still in a whisper pushed the watch down and they both froze with the loud slam of the front door.

The ancient oak wardrobe was sturdy enough to hold both their weights.  The wood was detailed in some ancient script carved on the inside and across the doors filling the horizontal wood grains.  The detail was intricate and would have made a museum curator gleeful with the forgotten words of the past.  But more exciting than the hieroglyphics was the undeniable bullet left in the back wall.  There were four holes piercing through the front and back of the wardrobe.  The fifth hole went through the front and then stopped with the bullet still implanted.

The two men held their breath as they heard footsteps coming towards the room they were in and watched the shadow pass from the hallway light through the make-shift peep holes.

They listened carefully to the heavy footsteps run down the stairs and slam the front door again.  They both watched each other as they then heard another set of footsteps running down the steps and slamming the front door again.  They both jumped as a scream sounded through the night.

Fine.  Stay.  But don’t move a muscle.  The rules were pretty clear.  Three songs, past three in the morning and then we can make it out alive.  The cranky voice held a hint of empathy for the poor man that was in the same situation he had willingly signed up for.

"Do you really believe them?  We know too much about ‘The Blue Moon Society’ already.  They aren’t going to let us both walk out of here.  Dude we’re screwed, you know that right?  We’re food or becoming what we fear."  The shaky voice spoke in a whisper but the sarcasm was blatant.

Speak for yourself.  I’m getting out.  I believe BMS will let us go...well I hope so anyways.  The crankiness dissipated and the
