INTRODUCTION
Me, Fanger and Jack had a lot of learning to do. And like always, them alien critters kept us on our toes. But we were always ready for a fight.
RECONNECTED
The first thang we did once it sank in we was drifting in space was to check supplies. We figured we had enough beer and airplane bottles of whiskey for a good week and a half and we could run the moonshine still off and on to get us through to four weeks. That left us about a month to either get back to Earth or find some space beverages. Other shit like food and water we could figure out along the way.
Jack spent all his time in the big ass lounge chair, tinkering with the controls and trying to learn the ins and outs of the ship. Since he figured out how to control them clones, he was able to put them sumbitches to work cleaning up the mess we left from the battle.
Me and Fanger did a little exploring but never found any thang useful. We farted on the walls, passed through the Jell-O and ended up in some empty ass room. We never went more than three rooms past the control room. We still weren’t sure what made the ship transform and didn’t want to risk getting isolated from Jack or the supplies. Eventually we unpacked our camping chairs, drank moderately to ration alcohol, breathed in the fresh ass air and tried to remember any thang we could about the whoop ass device.
I figure it ain’t in the junkyard,
Fanger said, staring up at the ceiling.
Why is that?
I asked, doing the same damn thang.
We never hide heavy duty shit at the junkyard anymore. Specially after what happened with the laser canon.
Fanger took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
Yep, we learned our lesson with that shit.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes too.
After several minutes of silence, I titled my head forward, put both hands on the arms of the chair, and pushed myself up to git another beer. Soon as my hands lifted off the chair I damn near passed out. With my eyes closed, I dropped back down in my seat. I took a deep breath and opened my eyes to see the walls swirling like a mixed up rainbow again. What the hell?
I hollered.
That’s me! I can change the ship!
Jack said from the lounge chair. Kinda!
Me and Fanger rocked out of our chairs, keeping our eyes on the floor. When we looked up, the hallway that was leading up to the MTRV was gone. A big room with rounded walls and a shit load of shelves sat where the hallway used to be.
Look at that shit,
Fanger said, leaning his head to the right and looking in to the room.
Jack popped up and hooked his elbows over the arms of the chair. Let’s go check that shit out,
he said, kicking his legs over the arm, dropping down to the platform and on to the floor. He took off for the room like a kid going for his presents at Christmas.
Me and Fanger moved in slow and steady, scanning the room with each step. All our gear from the MTRV sat to left of the entrance and a shit ton of black colored square boxes sat on the rows of shelves in the room.
Weapons?
Fanger said, screwing the lid on his jar of moonshine.
Jack snatched one of the devices off the wall and tossed it around in his hands.
Careful, Jack!
I hollered.
It’s light as shit,
Jack said, grinning from ear to ear.
I clenched my jaw and picked up my pace. Soon as I got to the archway leading into
