The Rich Man's Heart - Loza Mhlahlo

    A rich man's heart

    Synopsis

Michael starts out as someone who has been pushed out of every school he has ever been in because of an unknown reason that he keeps from his best friend and his family (even though some of his family members can already guess what the reason is). He and his friend Oscar move to the city to go find greener pastures. There they get more than they ever hoped for.

    ––––––––

Oscar is a driven young man who has essentially lost everything in his life. His whole family is no more instead of brooding and feeling sorry for himself he just carries on to live his life while always making sure that his best friend is safe from everyone harm.

    ––––––––

In the city Oscar and Michael get to work for a influential, wealthy business man Peterson Wander who has a liking to them the minute they meet.  Their boss is the one that leaves a junk of money for them once he dies.

But with that money comes a lot more problems than they thought about.  Problems that aren't about money at all. The same issues that had them running from the village come back to haunt them in the city.  They both take drastic measures to ensure each other's sanity.

    Main Characters

    ––––––––

Michael: He is a smart, quick talking and most times blabbering young man.  He has been fed up with the made up stories that have been flying about him and his friend for a while now but he's often too shy to say anything about it to either stop the talks nor discuss them with his best friend.

Oscar: He will beat up anyone who he thinks is bullying his shy friend.  He has always gone for the violence route all his life he's never seen it as bad because it always works out in the end for him.  He thinks his fist are the most fastest way to end a problem than resolving it with words.

    ––––––––

Peterson Wander: He is a man who doesn't have many people in his circle.  He mostly keeps to himself because his wife was his only friend and after she died a part of him died as well. So he just waits for his own time to come.

    Prologue

Two people stood in the middle of the road while it rained heavily.

    ––––––––

Bonwa: I can't do this anymore.

    ––––––––

Michael: Do what? Be a mother to your own son? You gave birth to him so show responsibility.  He is your son. Do not throw him to his father as if he's some object. You and Oscar can have any argument you like but do not put that innocent child in this mess!

    ––––––––

Bonwa: Of course you'd be the one whose here to tell me this shit. Where is he? The one who should have ran after me. Uphi? Nowhere to be seen.

    ––––––––

Michael: Oscar's way of dealing with things is different.  As soon as he thinks things through he'll be here.  What I'm trying  to say to is that think of Uyazi. How will he live without a mother?

    ––––––––

Bonwa: The same way his father doesn't need a woman in his life.

    ––––––––

    Michael was lost.

    ––––––––

Bonwa: (giggles)  Oh you didn't know? He didn't tell you what I told him?

    ––––––––

Michael: You told him what? Oscar
