INTRODUCTION
As I write these pages , it’s been five years since I wrote The Solitary Witch’s Green Book , a book about traditional Witchcraft written at a time when only Wiccan books were being published. I still remember the days when I was working on that book, unaware that I was about to embark on the journey of a lifetime. I will always thank the Goddess for blessing me with so many loving readers.
Witchcraft, and particularly solitary traditional Witchcraft, is about spiritual freedom and bowing to no higher religious authority unless we choose to. My first book was written to help beginners find their path. I wanted to tap into the very beauty and freedom Witchcraft offers its practitioners, by allowing us to decide and shape our path from beginning to end. But freedom, as we know, can be scary when you’re not used to it. My previous manual wanted to give new witches an overview of the options available to them, and offer them a set of exercises to help them decide what they loved the most and how they wanted to approach their practice.
This second book, though, is not about finding yourself as a witch. This is a green grimoire about the magical, natural things I love the most. As a witch, nature is my temple, and the natural world offers solace to my soul, answers to my prayers, and ingredients for my spells.
I’m extremely excited to share with you my love for herbs, the elements, nature spirits, and all the magical aspects of nature around us.
This book, just like all the books I write, is a work of love for nature and the magic of the Universe. I hope you can feel this while reading it.
Witchcraft, in itself, has always been deeply connected to the natural world. Green Witches understand that everything is interconnected and that universal well-being is tied to the health of the planet. This awareness leads us to live our lives in a way that honors and protects the earth, its creatures, and everything it offers us, and at the same time allows us to take advantage of all these things to improve our own lives.
There are a few things that, in my opinion, make Green Witchcraft extremely special. In case you aren’t still convinced Green Witchcraft is for you, let me tell you four reasons why you might enjoy learning more about it (and, of course, reading this book!):
Environmental Consciousness:
Green Witchcraft focuses, first and foremost, on a deep respect and reverence for the earth and its creatures. This makes it slightly different from the other branches of Witchcraft because its practitioners always put environmental consciousness first. We are mindful of our consumption, waste, and impact on the natural world. We try to reduce our carbon footprint and live in harmony with nature, and we also strive to educate others ―if they’re willing to listen― about the importance of sustainability, conservation, and environmental stewardship. When we honor the principles of Green Witchcraft, we are helping the planet too.
Easy and Beautiful Spells and Rituals:
Most people are attracted to Witchcraft in search of spells and rituals they can recreate at home. Green Witchcraft offers us the possibility to practice our spells with ingredients that are extremely easy to find, and you won’t need anyone else to help you, nor will you need to buy special tools or go to special places: nature and its fruits are everywhere around us, and that’s all a Green Witch needs to cast her spells.
Budget-friendly:
One of the things I love the most about Green Witchcraft is how budget-friendly it can be. You don't need expensive tools or ingredients to practice; you can connect with nature and work your magic using just the plants and stones found in your backyard or in a local park. This makes Green Witchcraft an incredibly affordable and empowering way to connect with the natural world and explore your spiritual path, available to anyone.
Freedom to shape your own path:
Green Witchcraft is a deeply personal and individual practice; nobody is going to tell you what to do, when, or how. This is your personal path, and you’re free to shape it and your relationship with nature in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to you. As a Green Witch, you’re free to create a spiritual practice that is truly your own and helps you grow as an individual. For more information on shaping your path as a witch, I warmly recommend my first book, The Solitary Witch’s Green Book.
Connection with your Ancestors:
Many subbranches of Green Witchcraft have ancient roots to our ancestors and the wisdom of the
