Maryann "Mar." Harman has a BA in Music, Level I Orff Certification and MAEd. She's the founder of the internationally respected Music with Mar. program. Her passion is combining brain research with music to help children in all areas of development. She's written for Dr. Becky Bailey and Kaplan and won two Parents' Choice Awards, John Lennon Songwriting Award and other National Awards. Her songs are musically/educationally sound as well as easy to use. She has 40 yrs of classroom experience from early childhood through college and adult education. Her use of the latest brain research in her recordings and workshops, makes her a sought out Keynote speaker for a number of state, national and international organizations. There is no time more precious than those special moments spent with your child(ren). From the moment we learn we are expecting and onward, our lives become filled with thoughts of what we, as a parent, need to provide to guarantee our child has everything they need in life. Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming! Sometimes, a little challenging, as we navigate all the different choices out there.
Much has changed since Benjamin Spock or Terry Brazelton was THE pediatrician. More information exists about how a person develops and what is happening during those stages of development. For me, the most interesting research was about how music influences lives in every area. The research intrigues me. Knowing that something as simple as rocking a baby is related to language, math, and attachment, is amazing! Each time we sing a song with a smile as we look at our child, we are building that baby’s brain. Wow! Something as simple as music can have a profound difference when used at any point in
