About this ebook

CHANGE THE WORLD.
DON’T LET IT CHANGE YOU.

God appeals to all believers to present our bodies as living sacrifices. To do this, we must let our minds be changed so we don’t conform to the world and are condemned to eternal separation from the Lord. To live out this appeal, God has given us different gifts and assignments according to the faith we have to receive them. This faith, the working of this faith, and the love of Christ, through our gifts and assignments, are how we will affect change in the minds of those in this world.

In The Millennial Christian Devotional, author Brittany S. Dodson offers a ninety-day devotional to help you:

see scripture as your foundation for all truth;
acknowledge truth as the anchor for how you view the world and yourself;
learn to view your life through the eyes of the Father so you can be who He has called you to be; and
grow to understand that helping others love and follow Christ is a mission for all believers.

Through this devotional, Brittany encourages all believers to keep fighting the good fight of faith with the Lord on their side.

    About the Author

    A Message for Millennials

    Is church really necessary? This question is asked amongst many millennials today. A number of millennials question the validity of church assemblies, the hearts of those who congregate in these assemblies, and the need to gather in the midst of others when God is present everywhere. Cultural shifts have allowed for the acceptance of a mass mind-set that deviates from the norm to embrace an overwhelming craving for individuality. Even if this comes at the cost of one of the beneficial precepts of the faith—going to church. And when this happens, we must be prepared to wrestle with these concerns, address them and their root appropriately, and provide an answer that is backed by scripture and reinforced by God’s love. Knowing this begs a few questions: Is church assembly a mandate for the Christian believer? Why were churches established in the first place? And are they still necessary apart from being obligatory?

    When we look at the New Testament church—visible and invisible—we can conclude that it is the core of God’s program. In the church is where we see God’s purposes and works come together, especially in Acts. In the local assembly, there’s the opportunity to discover, grow in, and express spiritual gifts, which in turn, builds up the body of Christ (Acts 2:42, 46; 1 Corinthians 11—12, 14; Ephesians 4). Jesus Himself made a habit of going to church (Luke 4:16), and He should be the ultimate example for all professed believers.

    As believers, we are to demonstrate a love and reverence for the Lord that shows our appreciation for Him. This should prompt us to want to get to know Him, and to do this, we must hear from those who have been called by Him to teach and help guide us. They would be the Pauls and Timothies, if you will, of our day called to instruct us on how to become Pauls and Timothies to perpetuate the fruitfulness of the gospel.

    Although some have come to understand the value and importance of corporate worship, it would be derelict to dismiss the concern of those who question the need for corporate worship. Culture and even the church itself have played a part in feeding the mind-set of individualism causing some Christian millennials to turn away from experiencing God corporately with other believers to wanting to experience Him in the confines of their own homes. And while going to church doesn’t assure salvation, it is one of the many proofs of salvation. A salvation that calls us to be readily on guard to gather with, exhort, encourage, intercede and watch for, and even correct our brothers and sisters.

    So, amid hard truths and seeking resolves for the absence of millennials in church, what message can be sent to convey the importance of going to church? The only message that is the most effective and has proven to withstand the test of time is the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Although not viewed to be as efficacious as offering a coffee bar, Jesus is the best headliner for necessitating the critical nature of worshipping and learning of Him alongside other believers. He is the risen Savior that breathes life into our dead and sinful flesh and osmotically transforms our very nature into one that seeks daily to imitate Him. He is the one who hears what our soul cries and
