    Purpose of this book:

I have been wanting to write a book for quite some time. I always struggled with what to write about. Nothing ever seemed to come to fruition.  My first thought was to write a devotional. I wrote one page, and I didn’t have any passion for it. I thought about writing a fictional Christian book, or a Christmas fictional story. Perhaps these will come later. For now, God put it in my heart to write about my mission trip to Managua Nicaragua in 2009.

Why would I write a book about events that happened 14 years ago? The short answer in God told me to. He really laid it on my heart to do so.

I also took 934 (literally) pictures. I remember things vividly, but those pictures really helped.

The long answer is, I have always wanted to do this. God has allowed me to write this. All glory to Jesus. My goal for this book is to hopefully help someone go on a trip like I did, or help a kid go to camp, etc. I won't take any money for this book. Everything goes back to God. He has blessed me beyond measure, and I want to give back as well. If you are reading this, thanks. You are helping further the kingdom of God.

2 Timothy 2:21 Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

This book is dedicated to my Grandparents Ruth and Jim Grimes. I can't thank God enough for the influence in my life. I will always cherish the time we had together.

I wish I could sit down and have another bowl of homemade vegetable soup and a ham and cheese sandwich, with some apple cobbler with you just one more time. I miss you terribly….

Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

    Chapter 1: How it started

James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

My story begins in Canton Ohio in 1977. I remember it was a cold day in February, with light snow. I remember the snow hitting my face as I left the hospital, and the brisk cold air as I was heading towards the car.  Ok. I don't remember any of that.

My story did begin there, however. I'll skip the rest for now and get on with the story.

In Jan of 2005, I walked into the church I currently attend, and got saved. The preacher asked if anyone needed to accept Jesus, I did, and went through the sinner’s prayer. The crazy thing is life wasn't bad. I was not rich, but I made it at that time.

Every testimony people seem to get saved after years of partying, drinking, drugs, or whatnot. My story was exactly the opposite. Jesus
